Nice 30 mile path/gravel ride along the Santa Ana river trail near my home. Stopped by the Desi Arnez rancho for a quick pic. Desi lived at his quarter horse farm along the river back in the 1960's and it was modeled after his childhood house in Cuba. Our city has bought the property and it's currently being renovated into a 91,000 square foot community center for special events. Babbalu!

We went down to DC on Friday afternoon to take in the cherry blossoms. We parked at Gravelly Point, just north of Reagan airport to take in some plane spotting first. We then biked over the 14th Street Bridge into the city. There were throbs of people, so I didn't take any pictures in town. We did escape the people down in East Potomac Park for a nice ride there. We also met a good number of inconsiderate road cyclists, so we may stay on the VA side on the Mount Vernon Trail if we go in there again.

I got off my 45 year old road bike for a change, and took the 2013 Fuji Absolute 2.1 out for what I planned to be an easy 10 mile spin. The weather was so nice, and knowing that I would have a tailwind on my return leg, I stretched it to 24 miles up and around Lewisville Lake. Every time I get on this bike, I wish I rode it more than I did.

And, because my wife and I both went to Texas Tech, our son attends there now, and Texas Tech advanced to the Final Four, I had to post the final picture... WreckEm Texas Tech!

I took the Crosstrail Sport out to the gulf coast at Baybort, FL which is 3 miles from home. It's a beautiful "Old Florida" environment here on Florida's Nature Coast

We have a great converted rail line in Northern Greensboro called the Atlantic & Atlantic Greenway that has some stunning lake views. This was from Sunday Morning.

I left before dawn for an easy spinning 22 mile ride on my 2013 Fuji Absolute 2.1. It was a beautiful morning in Lewisville, Texas on Memorial Day.

Early morning illumination.

The 14 mile trail that runs on the right of way for the commuter rail line had been open for 6 months or so, but the official grand opening was held today after several rain-outs. Each small city or town along the way had a tent with swag and water for those that needed it. Lots of riders, walkers, and runners. I've ridden it 10 times or so, but this was my first ride on the newly installed 700x32 Schwalbe Marathons. Great roll, traction, and smoothness. It is a 30 mile round trip from my house to the end, and a beautiful day and no south wind to ride into on the return leg.

Went on a shortish pleasure ride on the Bicentennial Greenway in Greensboro, NC. A relaxed pace with time to stop and take some pictures.

LOL It feels kinda weird when I switch bikes. I should get used to it since the 4 is mostly road and the 8.2 is mostly for trails. I did find myself looking for a third ring today after riding the 8.2 yesterday.

The 4 is 42/28 and 11-40

The 8.2 is 48/38/28 and 14-34

So, I think (w/o doing the math) they are fairly close in high range. The 4 goes lower by 6 teeth. That's a plus for some of the hills around here.

BTW, I have these coming for the 8.2 tomorrow and hope to get out to the trails again. Got the pair for $25 at Bikesmiths. 700 X 47 I got the Ride Tours because I still use the 8.2 for casual rides around the neighborhood and didn't want full blown knobbys. But my 42mm Contact Travels are a little too thin for trails. I think they run kinda thinner too. I hope the 47's don't. I want that full 1 3/4" They should be really comfy with all my suspensions and a minimum of 45psi.

I looked at that tire (although much narrower) when recently replacing the original tires on my Absolute. I went with the Schwalbe Marathon HS420 GG since I don't do much riding off pavement. I almost pulled the trigger on these though because I definitely wanted something more aggressive off of the center rolling track of the tire. Looking forward to your thoughts on the tires after you've got some miles on them.

Same here. I'm looking to replace my tires with something similar. Look forward to your opinion.

I went to the trails today but they were closed due to the rain last night. So, I went over to the old rail bed trail. Did 22.5 miles on crushed gravel. Not a very good test but they did fine. I'll try the single track again tomorrow or Friday. I can say the quality is much higher than what I paid. They look great, are strong and actually popped right on by hand. Never mounted a tire so easily.

back from joy riding for the first time since getting my hybrid. such a nice evening. didn't want to spend it inside at the gym. was low 70s when i started but quickly dropped into the preferable 60s. up and down the lakefront trail. for a total of 29.85 miles. if i start earlier, i'll do the whole thing next time. but it's 8:30pm and i'm starving. couldn't pass up the exit for my apartment. saw golden hour. really cool fog in the city tonight and fun to ride through at the end.

Did a nice 73 km after work ride yesterday. Very nearly the most diverse road conditions possible along the way - urban streets, a winding hardpack gravel MUP, some smooth tarmac roads, some not so smooth; smooth and fast hard packed gravel roads with a few loose gravel sections; sandy fire roads, double trail and for ~2 km pretty much no road at all - overgrown forest fire road, covered in a foot tall grass, with a few mudpits. Unfortunately didn't take any pictures, because stopping in the forest is quite annoying this time of year.
