I'm a 6'4 male, but took this XS ladies bike on a 20km loop of the Grampians Rail Trail a couple of weeks ago...

I'll bet it was fun. Riding a bike with a super short reach and a bolt-upright riding position is strangely enjoyable sometimes. It just feels so natural. It's not all that efficient from a pedaling or aerodynamic perspective, but it is fun.

Haha...not exactly comfortable. I didn't spend too much time in the seat, had to ride it like a BMX, but the ride was enjoyable enough nevertheless. I think this is why a lot of people don't get into cycling - riding hand-me-downs' that don't fit, or borrowing someone's bike that is invariably the wrong size.
Makes me appreciate having a bike that is appropriately sized even more. |
This is insanity! I disappear from the Hybrid forum for a while and this great thread goes dormant for nearly a year?? I'll resurrect it.
Last Sunday I invited a friend of mine that just moved back to the area to ride with my normal beer run buddy to join us on a 30 mile ride. She had been riding in Utah, and jumped at the chance to join up. I told her this would be at a "coffee/taco/beer" pace and not a "lycra and spandex" pace. 2 Fuji Absolutes and her Trek Verve. Great times for three 50+ yr old cyclists! https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...385795f306.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...61ece1f67d.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3ddc253c5d.jpg |
We put on our longest "Non E-assist" ride since 2011 on 6-2, 47.5 miles round trip, trying to build up our "daily mileage" for my wife Jo's 1st. ADA Tour de Cure-Rocky Mountains on Aug. 28. It's a "Virtual" ride so we pick mileage and destination while trying to work up her "donations" level. The day was partly sunny, warm, with just a little wind and even with the clouds continuously coming over Pikes Peak we used urban paths, back roads and State Highways to get to Fountain, CO. and pick up "Old Pueblo Rd." Our days destination was the Pikes Peak International Raceway, south of Fountain, CO. With a lunch stop, the a couple of breaks/find water stops we got back to our apt. total time 5.5 hrs. LOL, yes, we are old and SLOW but happy to find out we can still put in 50 miles and not be totally wiped out! We are planning to ride 60+ miles to Castle Rock, CO. via Hwy. 83/86, spend the night then ride back to Colorado Springs the next day! :)
