I rode about 90 miles today out to an event just beyond Leesburg and back. It was on bike paths most of the way.

I got there less than a minute before a torrential thunderstorm struck. I rode out there to see Cirque du Cyclisme, a vintage bike show and swap. I looked at all the bikes and some of the stuff for sale. When I was ready to leave, the rain was mostly over. It was hot riding out, cooler with a tailwind on the way back.

I like talking to people on the trail when I catch them. Just briefly and not everyone, but the ones who look friendly. It's fun, they don't expect it. Bicycling doesn't have to be like riding an elevator where everybody looks straight ahead and never interacts.

I never do long rides, so this was a hard one. I think I was about seven hours in the saddle.

I rode my Marin Mill Valley and towed an empty B.O.B. trailer. In case I bought something at the swap, I could carry it home.

I looked at teh thrasher, but it was just a little too small to fit me well. I did like that blinking reflector though, thought that was a pretty good idea.

How long have you had the Trailway, and how do you like it. I was thinkning about a little bit smaller tires... but after my spill I think I will stick with the 38's that came on it.
I have already logged many miles on it. I really love the bike,
The back dérailleur really has to be tweaked perfect on mine for super smooth shifting,
just the little barrel adjuster a 1/2 a turn every so often. But other than that no problems,
brakes are awesome, and I like the 38c tires that came on it. Hope you feel better, Richard

Did some riding around town tonight...just over 7 miles. Haven't rode much because of crazy wind and thunderstorms lately.

i rode for my first long trip( to me that is) about 13.2 miles. from college terrace near Stanford university to the palo alto Baylands, and 5 miles around that, and then returned home. it wasn't to bad, i had on some mtn bike tires on and they helped in the medium gravel areas, most of the course was gravel but it wasn't to bad, bumpy though. i saw a fair amount of bikes , joggers and people walking. i next time i am bringing some water and snacks, so the trip will be more less hungry and thirsty.

The strangest thing I have every seen happened last night around 9:30, my son and I was going on a night time rural road ride and there was a deer
standing on the side of the road, we stopped with in 10 feet of him, little buck with 4" felt horns. My son said you think I can touch him, deer was just eating grass on the side off the road, I said no way, well he gets off his bike, he has a headlamp on his helmet starts walking up to the deer real slowly with his hand out, you can tell the deer is a little nervous, so is my son, he just stops with his hand out, finally deer starts walking up to him, starts to lick his fingers, my son starts to rub his head. After a couple minutes of this, I said let me get the video camera, we were 1 mile from the house. I rode like wind, and just as I was almost there I seen him coming down the road. He said I just mist it by like one minute, about 3 cars had stopped and was talking to my son, he told them I had gone after the camera. He said the people were AMAZED ! We had even talked before the ride about bringing it but thought it would be to dark, but with both bike lights, and helmet lamps and as close as we were, we mist a shot of a life time, but made a memory for ever..... Richard

Wow, that's cool, Richard!

I rode about 15 miles today including 2 or 3 off-road miles. Not just fire roads, but also twisty single track and technical rooty climbs. I decided to add the dirt section to my ride after reading here about the relative versatility of flat bar road bikes. I cleaned every section except one. I could have made that section, but to do so might have added to some erosion there, so I carefully walked it. Leave no trace.

I'm happy to report it is possible to ride and enjoy technical single track on 700x28c Gatorskin tires. Thanks to those of you who have written about their off-road hybrid riding. I might have taken that route anyway to escape the hot sun, but I was partially inspired by the riders who post here in the hybrid forum.

I never ride unless I have somewhere to go. I was towing a B.O.B. trailer loaded with a duffle bag full of laundry. I don't ride for pleasure, but I often enjoy the ride. Today was a fun ride. Thanks

Today netted me my longest ride ever - 30.33 miles on my Felt '03 SR-81. This is my second ride since coming back to bicycling, and I was able to negotiate Knoxville from one end to the other and all the way back. Very nice ride, I still like this bike very much.

FINALLY, something to post! Today I went out with a very informal group called the Meanderers. The guy who started it moved but the Yahoo group still exists. So I tweeted, facebooked, and posted to Yahoo. Ended up being my husband, Alice, WildBell, his wife and my husband. We did a solid 12 or 13 miles (started computer late) meandering around downtown L.A. Great day, Consdering I've rode my bike 2 times in six months, I'm pleased that this chubby girl can pull that off One great find was a dumpster full of fortunes...yes, really.

Did a 10 mile drive from my house to "de beerendries" in Sint-Maria-Oudenhove and this time I managed to get up the hill on my middle crankwheel with a 42/21 ... whooohooo!
I averaged 19,4 mph on the total round trip back to my house and I must say I'm pretty proud of myself now

Is that somewhere near Genesee Park? I have ridden from Fairport (the big parking lot in the villiage) up to Genesee park with my dad a few years back. 28 miles round trip I think it was. I quite often do the 22 mile round trip from Palmyra to Fairport and back. All on my mountain bike

Today I rode 13 miles through the country trying to hit 60 total this week. I am at 23 right now...The SS mountain bike is going to see its first canal debut this weekend I think I built it up for the canal, figure I can keep a SS going OK on long rides even, since I rarely shift on my mountain bike.

A 12.5mi loop around Jekyll Island, GA. So far this is my longest ride (I'm a nooooobie). Surprisingly I could have gone more... probably about 20mi. It was early and there were no cars out. Had a great time. This is my first ride since I wiped out 3 weeks ago and ended up at the ER with 6 stitches above my eye. Here's a few of the sight around the island. It has been HOT here lately (lower 100's) but thankfully it was nice this morining.

Went on a quick 12 miler in the middle of the afternoon. Yesterday was my "On" day, so today should've just been resting. That said, I felt fine, weather for tomorrow looks horrible, and I was bored. Here's a quick picture (The bike is new too, only a few weeks... The accessories are at the recommendation of those here!)
