I went for some multi-sport today and started out by cycling 16 miles at an average of 19,5 mph ... then I arrived at the swimming pool and had to change into my swimsuit and used this time to recover a bit ... then I swam 38 lenghts of 25 meters totaling 950 meters or about 3 fifths of a mile ... changed into my cyclewear again while recovering and then cycled back home for 8,5 miles.
Back home I drank a nice "Westmalle Tripel" and it was the best beer I ever had
Then I wondered: "what is the name of the sport that combines cycling and swimming?" ... so i tried looking it up but couldn't find anything!
If anyone here has information about this, please enlighten me

If you went for a jog you could have had your own mini triathlon... I hate running.

Yeah running isn't on my list at the moment ... I have back and neck issues so I'm affraid that running will be too heavy on me ... but hey, never say never

Took a short 15km ride with my friends when they came by to pick up their shiny old tandem... it was given to me and they needed a better tandem than what they had.

My friend is blind so she cannot ride solo but she and her husband make a pretty good team on a bike and having ridden tandem with her can say she is a very strong rider and is very athletic.

Rode shotgun on the way back with them to make sure everything checked out, could check their form and make some adjustments, and offer a little coaching on riding technique.

They seemed pretty happy and they were amazed at how fast they were going and I had to push it pretty hard to keep up with them.

Nice road! It looks like it probably gets tricky at the bottoms of those dips and steep getting out of 'em.

I rode to my mom's house yesterday for lunch. I saw a couple deer on the way there. They almost escaped the camera. One last glance at me before bounding off into deeper brush.

While I was there, a violent storm ripped through the area and the power went out. I had to carry my laundry home soaking wet and we missed the end of the Tour de France coverage. I saw a lot of downed trees on the way home.

Reported to be one of the strongest storms on record. Each of the pictures I posted is a different tree. Four or five of the thousands that got torn up yesterday.

Over 1600 downed power lines. Two days later 90,000 Pepco customers are still without power.

(YES), It is much more difficult than the picture looks, especially on a Hybrid, almost need a mountain bike, but that would take all the fun out
of it, (Laugh), and also it takes a 10 mile paved rural road ride to get there, thats why I ride a Hybrid...... : ) Richard

Rode 15 miles out to the West and back this morning, planning to go farther but I got a late start and the heat was building up (high of 99 today). Found a nice insulated water bottle on the side of the road, obviously discarded Tour-de-France style by some rider who did not want to fall behind the group to pick it up. On the way home I decided to man up and ride a short but punishing section of cobblestones (see pic).

xoxoxo - This might seem counter intuitive but when you are descending you want to shift your weight back as far as possible and ride at a greater speed... wheels are gyros and at low speed they wobble while at higher speeds, and we're aren't talking much higher, they are much more stable.

Momentum is our friend as with enough of it you will roll over and through things that will stall you at low speeds.

And the we can talk about doing ten foot drops...

But thanks for the tip..... Richard ( remember I ride a 200.00 dollar budget Hybrid )
I did pass a guy that we offered help, he was riding a Specialized Rode Bike, around 2000.00
dollars I guess...Chain all ***** around his rear derailluer. Calling his wife to pick him up...A
little off topic....those videos do not make themselves..

Cool trails there Richard.
One remark: either teach your son to hold a camera still by squatting down and locking his arms or get a camera-tripod ... but this is unwatchable and makes me seasick.

I had read your post before but never clicked on the picture. You must be beat,
did you check for damage on your bike.
