Went for a ride to check on the progress of the Midland Trail MUP, here in Colorado Springs, CO. Going from America the Beautiful Park, (down town) over almost to the border with Manitou Springs. It's been a very slow progression over YEARS but it's on it's way to getting complete. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of October but I'm thinking more live end of Nov. Here's a few photo's of some of the new sections, just finished or close too.

6 bridges have been added as it crosses Fountain Creek, several times from end to end.

I took a bike ride with my friend, totaling 33 miles. This *may* be my longest ride ever (they are usually 29-31mi long). I went from street riding to the Cherry Creek trail, to REI downtown (where there's a Starbucks and I got a drink), to the South Platte River trail for 2.5mi one direction, then I turned back to get back on the Cherry Creek trail, to get to Anthony's pizza downtown (got a slice of pizza... Best pizza I've ever had), back to the Cherry Creek trail, to the Highline canal trail, to the street, to my house. Very nice ride. Hope that wasn't too confusing for you guys. I'm uploading a video that I took on the South Platte river trail from earlier, so stay tuned!

Edit:

Rode from the start of the interurban trail in Kent to Seattle and back, about a 74 mile round trip. I was going for a century but a flat tire and bad weather called it short. Got to see the 1st 787 painted up for airline delivery, that was pretty cool.

Did a bit of park riding today, enjoying the beautiful day.

@AlphaDogg - you should consider one of those GoPro Hero cams. You could get a nice helm kit for it too. I've been thinking about it myself.

I've been thinking about it, but honestly, as a broke high school student, I don't have the money for one of those.

Today, my hybrid and I did our first half-century. Was very nice. Went from the Cherry Creek trail to the Platte River trail to the Bear Creek trail and back. No coffee or pizza today .

25.06 miles with the Mrs. on the tandem, it's Trek T-900 and although some call it a "MTB style", we think it's more of a Hybrid style. A really nice day, just riding paths and bike lanes to different parts of the city of Colorado Springs.

Hey b1g bleu, thanks! It's actually the Canadian Roam 1. Looks similar to the US Roam 0. Grats on the new bike, enjoy! They're addictive for sure!

Thank! This was the first ride with the GC3 grips. I'm still getting used to the looks of them, but it is nice have options for hand position. I didn't get any hand numbness like I usually do on longer rides.

Mackinac Island, Michigan Trip with wintery weather at the begining...

Reporting from the city with roads and NO CARS!
We did just little over 18 miles ( 2 loops around the island ), weather was cold and windy with some rain at the begining. Temps from 37 to 50 Overall ride was a really nice, with breath taking views and great company.

On the end, while coming back from northern Michigan, we were lost, well... lost with our GPS I'm attatching YouTube movie...Bike rack was full of our bikes... Now I can say It aloud: I RECOMMEND YAKIMA DOUBLEDOWN4 BICYCLE RACK ;-)

Great pics of Mackinac. We were just there a couple of weeks ago also. It was amazing to see the everyday use of bikes as the main mode of transportation for many of the inhabitants. On Mackinac it is either horses, of which yjere are 600, or bikes, of which there seems to be a countless number. Seems like everyone uses the big Wald front carriers. What I did not see was one mid to high end bike. They were all at the lower end of the spectrum and the bike of choice on the islands seems to be the beach cruiser with the big prerequisite Wald basket. An interesting fact is that Mackinac has the only State Highway (M-185) in the US where cars are not allowed

Kind of in the middle of nowhere near my house. Won't be too long before they start building neighborhoods out here so taking in the scenery while I still can

The wife and I put 25 miles on our Trek T-900 Hybird Tandem, the day after our first "SNOW" storm of the season! Luckly it didn't stick to the roads and the fresh coating of snow on Pikes Peak was really pretty. Just a nice but chilly day for ride!

[QUOTE=Talldog;13332036] What I did not see was one mid to high end bike. They were all at the lower end...Funny...we noticed same thing. We saw just 2 high end mountain bikes - cannondale and specialized, and our $400 hybrids were like Mercedes comparing to the rest of the bikes ;-) Also, it was very interesting to see how people got the skills to transport big items such as tables and big baggage on a regular bikes. In my opinion, its the best weekend destination in Michigan. You can also go there during winter time to have fun on snowmobiles... they have an ice road connecting the island with the mainland.

Sunset in farm country.

22 miles through the country side. Caught a half way decent sunset. I love my Magic shine headlamp ( 900 lumens ) and my Planet Bike Turbo Flash Tail light. They enable me to night ride in relative safety. It is allot of fun and you can go out and catch good sunset pics with out having to hurry home....or get run over.

That's a helluva climb!

I did 35mi on the Cherry Creek trail -> 16th Street Mall (legal to ride in the mall-bus lanes on Sundays) -> North Platte river trail and back.

My riding buddy almost got hit by a bus, because he wasn't paying attention. Then, on our way to our favorite pizza place (Anthony's Pizza), a guy who was on that bus said "I was on that bus that almost hit you. You know it's illegal to ride on the mall, right? Watch out for cops, because it's a $100 ticket." I said "No. You do know that it is legal to ride on the mall on Sundays, right?" Then he said something to the effect of "Well, it's not legal to be hit by a bus on Sundays, is it?" On my way home, I saw a snake in the middle of the trail. I took some pictures of it. I waited with my bike in front of it until it got into the grass on the side, so it wouldn't be run over by any cyclists.

I will upload pictures from today's ride soon.
