Took it for a ride with my friend and got caught in the rain.

Took my iPhone out of the mount and put it in the saddlebag to keep it out of the rain. The mount really turns into a water collector.

Here is my helmet after getting wet:

Today my hybrid took me on a 100 kilometer training ride with the guys from my triathlon team.
It was my first 100k ride ever ... so I am quite proud of myself.
I would probably never have ridden that far by myself, but in a group and at a relatively slow pace is a whole other matter.
We averaged about 27.5 km/h ... and we even had a 50 year old woman with us!
At about the same time I passed the 100k mark, my bike also passed the 4000k mark ... so my bike too was pretty happy today.

Went on a 6 mile trip to meet with my cycling group. Then I headed out to the reservoir and went around it. Haven't been on a bike in over a week, so the constant climbs were torture. All in all, it was a good 30mi r/t ride. On my way to the reservoir, I took a turn too wide and too fast. Went into the dirt on the side of the trail and lost control. I was going about 20mph and I just took a dive. When I got up, I was fine. My cycling legwarmers protected my legs from scratches and my helmet got scratched from the fall. I don't think my head hit the ground very hard, because the scratches are pretty fine. My front derailleur shifted WAY out of alignment with the chainrings, so I got out my 5mm allen wrench and fixed it. Got a goathead puncture on my rear tire from going in the dirt, but I had a tube and it was all good . Good ride.

Great to hear some nostalgia around these places in Denver. Not great to hear the injuries you and your friends sustained riding down them. Were you drunk that night? When I go down these stairs on my bike, I run my tires in the ruts on the sides of the stairs (for rain runoff?) and walk with it down the stairs. The concrete that those ruts are made out of create very low friction, so when I hold the front brake while walking the bike, the bike slides down the ruts. I have to run down the stairs to catch up to it. I did ride down the stairs on the right because I didn't want to take the ramp. It made my chain jump from the middle chainring to the small ring.

By the way, were you directed here from the bicycle mechanics thread regarding my crash?

Not drunk, just stupid. We were bored one night and were downtown with our bicycles. What could possibly go wrong? Despite the injuries and broken bicycles, it was quite fun. None of us had bicycles built to handle it. No one got too hurt. Just scrapes and bruises.

And no, I didn't get directed here from the mechanics forum. I lurk these forums... all of them. Occasionally I speak up.

P.S., I was a sophomore in college in 2007. So, don't you get to thinking I'm old or anything.
