You trust those taxi drivers more than I would! LOL!

Nice videos!

Hah, well, I'm more concerned with the passengers exiting the taxis.

The drivers know they are liable if they hit me, or door me.

It's passengers, usually tourists, who fling open their door without looking that scare me the most.

And thank you, I'm glad you like the videos.

Went for ride today after some time off the bike for a while. "Note to self don't plan overly ambitious rides when I haven't ridden for a long while" My legs really struggled to carry me back to base.

Watched some R/C power boat racing in the city.

today, 13.92 miles - shot some nice footage of the MUP near the Worlds Fair Marina. https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...rina-1392.html

Nasty 25-35mph winds, gusts on the waterfront were likely close to 50mph.

Yesterday was my first attempt to ride to a friends house in Hicksville Long Island, he did pick me up a few miles from his place due to my own frustrations, so it wasn't a 100% success in that respect. After a few wrong turns, and back tracking, I was on mile 30 of a 26 mile trip, and threw in the towel....

The google maps directions had me zig-zagging on side streets to avoid a long stretch of Jericho Turnpike. This made navigation slow going as I stopped often to check directions, and maps.

At 11:30 my friend dropped me at the Eastern end of the Brooklyn Queens Greenway at Alley Pond Park, and I rode the last 13 miles home.

Both trips combined for 43.65 miles, which is only about 2.5 miles less then a round trip (with no navigational errors) to his house would have been.

Sorry for the triple post....

I rode from Astoria to Fort Washington Park at the foot of the George Washington Bridge.

16.28 miles, cool in the mid 50's, winds 25-30mph. https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...park-1628.html

Did one of my more typical rides today along the river torrens and along the coast for a bit but unfortunately my camera battery went flat, so not many pic's to choose from.

Not having much in the way of "funds", the wife and I just rode a mix of backstreets and MUP'S, stopped at a new sandwich shop (which which) and just enjoy plonking around on a slightly windy but sunny and low 80's (F) day!! 20 miles with lot's of sightseeing, SWEET!

17 miles today. https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...-and-59th.html

After my ride to Hicksville last week, I had the worst saddle sores I've experienced.

Still not completely healed, I refused not to ride today.

Sunny, cool, moderate winds.

I crossed the Triboro Bridge, and took in the sites around Randalls Island, and then crossed the river to ride down the East River Esplanade to the 59th Street bridge, using it to return to Astoria via Long Island City.

20 miles Laps in Central Park

https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...harlem-20.html

I made a wrong turn in Harlem (I know sounds bad already....), and once I turned around I saw a soupped up car, with a cool paintjob, so I filmed it. Passing the passenger side, I see the occupant is wearing a fright mask, and it did just that. I could just imagine, those were the kind of dudes you don't mess with. Maybe I watch too many Asian gangster movies....

Gorgeous day in Central Park, wish you were here....

Bridgenottunnel I watch you vid's, I like seeing everyday life around other parts of the world. I don't know if retro is your style but I just rode all day for the first time with a SanMarco Concor saddle and it's as comfy as sitting in a lounge chair all day.

Yes I know it's a C&V bike but it's pic's of where I rode today. I linked up 3 towns in the Adelaide hills today to make a loop ride then rode the Adelaide coast line later in the day both ways.

I rode to the Council on Aging office in town to see if any other seniors rode. The lady said "One" and pointed at me. I may be a senior but I don't feel old enough for that place, canasta anyone?

Rode to friends house then we both rode to REI to pick up a few items one of which was a new Ulock. Round trip was 22 mi. Then hooked up the trailer and pulled my daughter a couple miles around the neighborhood.

Tuesday I road my new Giant Escape 1 38 miles around the River Mountain Trail. I gained 2500 feet of elevation in those miles. I had to share the trail with others as you can see.
The bike had a GPS mounted to it, headlights and tail lights, rack and trunk, 3 cameras, 2 25 oz water bottles and lunch. It weighed 40 pounds and took me 6 hours to complete the loop. I can't believe how admirably the bike performed. But I finished the loop in 4 hours on my Trek 2.1 Apex yesterday.
Though I'm new to bicycling, I will complete this fabulous loop hundreds of more times in my life I'm sure.

That looks like an awesome place to ride I'd worry about getting to close to those fellas though. I'd like to see more pic's of this area from future rides.

Since I'm new to cycling every ride is new. Sure, I've driven them but riding is different. I can more easily stop for pics.

I've been video taping and photographing the River Mountain Trail in Las Vegas/Lake Mead for many months. This summer when it gets hot I will edit a YouTube video and post it here.
You know what is hugely missing in these forums? A ride report section. People have got awesome places to ride and no uniform place to post them.

Yes a ride report section would be good but it would need to be a whole new sub forum so all the roadie's and C&V guys could join in.
I swear in your second pic there's Australian eucalypt trees behind the palms. Maybe that means I can live there it would be worth it for scenery like that.

You sure do see things you never see driving a car, sometimes you just gotta stop for a pic.

Today I rode a rail trail 130km Riverton to Clare and beyond, funny about that with my back problems I cant walk more than 1km and cant stand in one spot more than 10min's.

If your into fine wines you may know the Barossa Valley region, well this is it in open areas there's vines as far as the eye can see. This trail links onto the 900km Mawson trail but i'll save that ride for another day.
