The great thing about this forum is that there are people all over the world and we get a little taste of what it's like in each place. Thanks to all who make this (sub)forum so special. The 41 on the other hand....

An old friend of mine moved out to your area, and said he rides some these days.
Looking at your pics makes me want to pay him a visit!

Today I headed back to Riverton but this time rode the Peters Hill loop trail through undulating hilly farming country that's only 35km long so added the Macaw Creek Trail for another 13km. The highlight at the halfway point is snack break at Marshall's Hut, an over night camp spot for hikers that walk the 1200km Heysen trail.
I took Pugsly the Peugeot for the cushy tires and because he was looking lonely in the garage.
This is just outside Riverton headed toward Peters Hill.

All these trails are well marked. This was the junction to take a detour to Marshall's Hut.

There was also a couple historic cemetery's I walked around, I like this stuff.

Headed toward the hut.

Hello! A quick snack.

It's a nice quiet place with a nice view.

One of the many historic farming property's along the way.

Still trying

You're going to make giantcfr1 homesick again!
Here's from today. Some crazy potheads out there!
Also, the trail was EMPTY. I was able to ride on the left side for like a mile. It felt wrong, but I did it just because I could. It was about 40º today, which is why the trail was so empty.

I spent last thursday and friday covering Bike Expo New York.
https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...k-may-3rd.html
sunday I rode in the Five Boro Bike Tour for my first organized ride.
https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...-tour-606.html
i recorded just over 2 hours of tour footage broken into 50 parts.
i now own the skeleton case for my gopro hero2, and use a lapel microphone, and wind screen, which has greatly improved the audio quality all around.
Danny DeJesus of King of New York BMX, pulls off a back flip. Sunny in the 60's, and 70's, a visit to the second day of Bike Expo New York.
From Radio City, to Central Park, on 6th Avenue. My first ride on the Five Boro Bike Tour. Chilly, overcast, and breezy, to start the day; clouds give way to sunshine, mild temperatures, and moderate headwinds.
enjoy!

And he did. jbchybridrider, your pics are beautiful and I'm sure Pugsly was very happy. Love the great out doors. We have incredible scenes along the beach on the Gold Coast but unfortunately it's nowhere near as beautiful as the Australian bush. You live in a fantastic area.
BTW, today I had an hour spare and headed down to the river. Very relaxing.

Yesterday was my first ride with the Five Borough Bike Club.
https://astoriahd.blogspot.com/2012/0...l-and-old.html
62 miles at least half of which were off-road.
A really gorgeous day, and an awesome ride, on historic trails.
^^^^Ed talks of how much the trail has improved since he first rode along it. Ed shares more about railroad culture, including how a pipe fitter from a railroad once replaced a hose on his Volkswagon, with pipe.
I'm still working on mic placement (lapel mic currently on top of left backpack strap), I want to experiment to get better in ride conversation audio from all sides, not just my left.... i might get another mic and use a splitter mounting them on my helmet.
