First METRIC - Little Miami River Bike Trail - Part I

Well I did 62 miles today for the first time. Perfect weather. I am fortunate to live within riding distance to this trail. It's follows the Little Miami River in SW Ohio. The river is designated as a National Scenic River. The trail itself is a state park.

One nice thing about the trail is there are few stops. Here is an exception.

This cat hangs out at the South Lebanon Picnic shelter. I usually see him there most trips. I think today he recognized me and was beggin for food.

The river is used for canoe trips. There are several outfitters you can rent from.

These guys started it all. This is their main staging area at Ft. Ancient.

The river valley was home to Indians back in the day.

Every once in a while you can see farm land such as this meadow.

The river has smallmouth bass in the deeper pools. Overall it's pretty healthy, fortunately.

My favorite bridge. It's located in Morrow OH

That looks like a great place, there appears to be camping near the trail. Possible family bike camping trip next year. Thanks for sharing and congrats on your metric.

There is camping. Camping bike trip = good idea, never thought of that. Morgan's has a campground with cabins right on the river. It's located about 2-3 miles north on the trail just outside of Morrow OH. You can get to it by road of course.

Well, I was going to say a road bike, but it's not wearing a jersey...so I would say
a TREK Hybrid of course !!!

There is an older couple I see from time to time that have their toy poodle tethered with a lease in a front basket on their bike. That dog appears to be in pure heaven going down the trail, but without a helmet. Do they make helmets for dogs ?

I really like riding that trail. The most I've done so far is from Riverview Park to just shy of Spring Valley and back, about 56 miles. I want to get up there and do a century sometime.

And congrats on your metric.

We are riding the trail next year...final destination KINGS ISLAND. Then we turn around and go back to the start. Just need to find a place to long term park, maybe the springfield airport. Thanks for the idea
