Opinions on Fuji Absolute 2.0
I searched and could not really find any good solid info on the 09-10 Fuji Absolute 2.0. I rode the Trek 7.3fx and Cannondale Quick 4. I ran into a Lbs on the way home and the sales person showed me a 2009 Fuji Absolute 2.0 for $599.99, it seemed like it had a lot of really good components for the price. What do you guys think of Fuji, are they on the lower end of the scale? Should I play it safe and get a Trek or Cannondale?

We had Fuji Monterey's (comfort bikes) 2005 models and LOVED them, I even treated mine like a hardtail MTB at times and it just kept on tick'in!
Fuji has been around for a long time and I'd say it's equal to Trek or Cannondale, jmho, ymmv. Best thing to do is RIDE them all and let the perfect bike talk to you on your ride!

[QUOTE=red2t;10207337] What do you guys think of Fuji, are they on the lower end of the scale? Should I play it safe and get a Trek or Cannondale? QUOTE]
I test-rode a 2009 Fuji Absolute 2.0 near the end of the season and was very close to buying it when I was lucky enough to find a (steel frame) Jamis Coda Sport in my size. (Few shops in my area sell Jamis and the ones that do only carry a couple models.) It was a tough decision; the main reason I chose the Jamis in the end is because my road bike is aluminum with carbon zertz as well-I liked the idea of a steel hybrid for our not-so-smooth local roads. (The additional weight wasn't an issue.)
I would highly recommend the Absolute 2.0. It shifted and handled nicely and is a very nice bike. Did you ride it? The $599 sale price is excellent, as the MSRP is around $800. However, that means little if it is not comfortable or a good fit. If the LBS is nearby, do yourself a favor and try it out. Buying a new bike can as confusing as choosing a new car, but the test ride should be the deciding factor.
With my road bike it was admittedly easier. The Specialized Dolce was the one that put a smile on my face every time I tried one. With the hybrid, both the Jamis and the Fuji were "talking to me" as bjjoondo put it. If you are really torn between two (or more), pick the one that is most comfortable for you.

My wife rides the 2008 Fuji Absolute 2.0 (and I maintain it). She and I both agree that it is a great bike. Nice components - sturdy - rides nice - no mechanical problems.
My only complaint of the bike is that the tires that came with it were relatively low air pressure tires- 80lbs max - 700X28 (as I remember). This made for a comfortable ride but harder to pedal. I changed them to 700X28 Trek Hardcase (found on sale) and my wife was impressed as to the difference in ride and experience.
I like Fuji bikes - I also have a Fuji Newest 1.0 that I enjoy riding.
I highly recommend the Absolute 2.0.
Oh and BTW I also have a Trek 7.3. The gearing and components on the Fuji blow away the Trek. I have upgraded the shifters, cassette, and chain on the Trek to come to the level of the Fuji.
You have to get a Trek 7.5FX before you get to the quality level of the Fuji 2.0.

Thanks guys for the response. I went to the LBS to check out the absolute 2.0 and I test rode it, and I really liked it! They had it on sale for 599.99 + an additional 10% off, but they didn't have any size 19 in stock, I test rode the size 17 and it felt a little to cramped. Do you guys know of any good places that would ship? I need this bike!

You might try https://www.performancebike.com I've seen Fuji's in our local Performance Bicycle Shop and they do a LOT of Mail Order business, don't know about the price difference from the dealers sale and discount, YMMV.

I'm not sure if this will help you in your area, but when I was looking for a leftover 2009 in October, an LBS that carries Fuji-but has limited space for stock in his store-offered to order one from the warehouse for me at the clearance price. I had already ridden one and knew what size I needed. (The first LBS didn't want to budge on the original price, even though the 2010 models would be in before long.)
He went online to see what was still available and was more than willing to order one if I decided that was what I wanted. I'm sure many stores would prefer to sell whatever they have left over, but if it doesn't fit you, the sale price is a moot point.

Performance bike is where I bought my wife's bike. If they said they would call Fuji then stay on them. My experience is that you need to be proactive with them. They are a chain store and some of the employees are not as motivated as they should be.

Thats the same place that I went and test rode the Fuji. They didnt seem like they could get the absolute 2.0 for me in my size, they said they will give Fuji a call to see if they have my size on Monday. They also said they don't ship from store to store. I guess I will wait until Monday and see what happens.
One LBS got a sale, the other didn't even make an effort.

I have an 07 Fuji Absolute. The grips were junky and I replaced. The crankset had to be replaced after a year and the current model has the same crankset (Truvativ Isoflow). I do like the position on the bike and overall it's been a good bike for my money. I definitely got my 600- out of it. Got it at Performance.

I guess Fuji no longer carries anymore 2.0 in a 19'. So I am thinking about ordering the 1.0 at a LBS, they are offering it to me for $850.00 for that much money I think I might just save up for a good road bike..
