Tire upgrade questions: Quick 4, want 700x28c good options

Hey everyone,

My Quick 4 is 95% on road, pulls a trailer for my son, and some riding in the night. The 700x32c Kenda Kwick Trax it came with aren't so hot.

I got an Amazon gift card I never used, and considered getting something more narrow that is lightweight, 28c or less (assuming the stock Element C3 wheels can accomodate less, I can't find any data about their width online).

I want something lighter weight that I can inflate to around 100psi that won't puncture if I need to go over a small amount of light gravel or in the grass where streets don't connect, but again it will be 95% + good old tarmac use.

Could you recommend a good tire? Also, wondering if I will need to get new tubes as well, since the ones I have now are inside tires that are rated for 80psi?

Is this a good tire at all? Or would the tan sidewalls just look completely ridiculous on my bike?

Thanks very much!

If it was me I'm not sure I would go a down to a 28, but 28 or 32 you could try a Continental Top Contact Kevlar bead. Lighter, decent urban street protection, rolls nice, has the reflective sidewall. I have them on my kid hauler, though in 26 size.

The Panaracer is a good choice for your needs.

^^^ This.
A similar option: Panaracer's own Pasela TG (folding), in either a 28 or 32.

Thanks gents!

No worries the tan sidewalls on the Panaracers will look tacky on an all black bike?

FWIW, I've used Paselas for years now, both in 1.5x26 on my roadified mtb, and (alternating with Conti GP4000s) on my Sirrus. I rather like the look of 'em, even on a 'modern' bike. They certainly won't/don't look "tacky" -- think of it more as a touch of 'retro chic', just like a Brooks saddle!

Consider the stock tires that come on the Quick 3, which rides much more road-like than the 4. My 3 has Continental City Contacts. Though they're still 32c, you'd probably be able to go down to 28s, though I don't know if that would offer you the stability for pulling the trailer. The Continentals are much smoother than the Kenda Kwicks and offer way less road resistance. I've ridden 40 mile hilly paved roads, gone over really bad frost-heaved and broken pavement, done dirt and gravel trails, and haven't had a flat in the year and a half of riding the bike (knock on wood).

I'd support that, back to back rides, I remember the 3 being substantially nicer.
The LBS offered me the 4, but would have had to order the SL 3, and it would have been an extra $300. I really, really wanted white and the better components, but after dropping money on the road bike last month, I just couldn't justify it.

Thanks for recommending the Continentals.
