More Hand Positions for a Trek 7.3 FX
So i haven't ridden my bike in about a year and i'm trying to get back into it this season.
i have a Trek 7.3 FX and have ripped the grips off and attatched bar ends and did a full wrap. i find the wrap more comfortable than the grips. but if not i'll probably go for the Ergons
i just have ONE MORE thing i want to do to the bike before i start doing longer rides (i really want to start doing longer rides such as the 50 mile trip from my apartment in baltimore to my dad's place in frederick, md)
Everything would be perfect if my Bontrager bar ends could slide to the middle of the flat bar but the wider part doesn't get it close enough to center as i'd like.
are there any clip on bar ends or short clip on aero bars i could put in the middle? i'm not looking for aero bars that make me lean down and put my arms on the pads i just want something to put my hands on in the middle.
thanks
steve

I've seen butterfly and H bars before but i like my set up already, the only thing that would make it 100% complete would be 2 clip on bar extenders that i can put right in the middle of the handle bar.
i rode today and noticed that without my headlight on i can just grip the center without needing anything but if i were to ride in the evening i'd be screwed, another idea i saw was this bar but i don't like how it isn't straighter than that. i'm a picky guy i suppose

Here's something else to consider, although I know they aren't made for this...... B-Dop Cycling makes a product called Super Delux Dashboard, which is really designed to make a long flat bar to mount stuff on.
It's carbon fibre, and really stiff, and very firmly mounted - it just might work for what you have in mind - or, at the very least - move other stuff farther forward, so you can thickly wrap the interior portion of your existing bars.
It ain't cheap, but it sure is a nice product.
For some reason I can't link to Photobucket - but pictures of my dash are on B-Dop's website.
