Another Bar Experiment
I just bought a set of bolt on mini drops, by Origin 8. I got them from Niagara Cycle.
I installed them on my Crosstrail, along with the existing Ergon Grips (GP-1) and Specialized Bar Ends. I installed them on the outside ends of the bars, just inside of the Bar Ends. My Mountain Myracle mirror slid right back on --- LOL I already know that my back won't take much time in the drops, but I thought it would be interesting to have more/different hand/body positions. If it doesn't work out, at all - I've wasted more money, than the $19 they cost me, over the years - and they still might work for someone else. Once it stops raining, I'll get them adjusted for angle, and wrapped ---- and then I can report how they do. |
Well, it may work out. The stem on my bike was too long, and the bars too flat. The test ride was ok, as the rest of the bike fitted, but after two hours I had a creaking back. An MTB short stem and a set of riser bars has made it perfect. Bar ends sounds a good way to get more places to rest the paws.
It's cheaper to buy h/bar bits than a new bike. :-) |
