Moustache Bars + Thumb Shifters

So I picked up a Univega Activa 200 over the weekend. It's an older 700c 21spd hybrid. When I picked it up it was equipped with the stock flat bars and riser stem, which I'm switching out for On One Mungo bars (possibly in the drop position, maybe upright depending on how my back decides it feels about it) and an old road bike stem, both of which I had lying around.

I want to reuse the stock brake levers and thumb shifters, but I'm a little unsure as to where to place the shifters.

Does anyone ride north roads, albatross, moustache, or mungo bars with thumb shifters on them? if so, what are your thoughts??

I have heard that moustache bars will not accept thumb shifter. Treking (butterfly) bars do accept thumb shifters. I know because I just installed a Nashbar treking bar on mine.
