Genkai Cycling Road
Left early in the morning and had a quick break at this rest stop 20 km from home, I'm at the red rectangle on the map. Heading from right to left following the coastline and down and off the map passed the golf course. Went back home on the same road.
The coast roads are deserted after summer ends.
Torri at Futamigaura Beach.
The rest stop is a popular spot for road bikes and a bike rack is provided.
Took a few detours to explore the headlands and beaches away from the main road. Was a mix of gravel, singletrack in pine forests, and double track service roads. I prefer my wider down-hill riser bars but switched to flat bars for this trip as most of the riding was on sealed roads.
It is rice harvesting time.
At Keya No Ohto. It's the largest basalt cavern in Japan. The cave entrance faces the ocean.
Hiked over the top of the ridge and rode along the track on the edge of the rocky beach below.
Just under 92 km in total.

Thanks giantcfr1. The rice fields reminded me of the pineapple and sugar cane farms along the coastline in Australia before the housing estates, shopping centers and highways came. I had put on flat bars for this trip to get through the farmland as quickly as possible but ended up spending most of my time here on the side roads appreciating the little things. The flat bars are back in the spare parts box.

Thanks for the update! I figured it was somewhere on the panhandle or Ala. coast. I have to get there soon. It looks like my ideal beach. Although today anything looks good from where I sit, in southern NJ. If I can't get to the ocean, it may come to me.

ADogg haha that's not a new Lancer. It's probably 5 or 6 years old at least. Man the bike infrastructure in Denver and other CO towns seems really amazing.
SHOFINE what's that weather like this time of year? My wife and I were in Destin (Miramar Beach) just a couple months ago, and I managed to get in some riding miles while we were down there.

The average highs are usually near 80 and med 50's for lows...been awesome for October...not much rain and water cleared up enough to go diving couple weeks ago. It's been quite chilly the past few days with wind blowing 20k+... gonna be 43 in the morning. ..but will back to normal by the weekend.

javal Thanks, it is a beautiful spot. I always stop there to walk on the beach and eat lunch before deciding on the next stage of my trip. There are also lots of mountain roads for those who like climbing and/or pushing their bikes. There usually isn't a view at the top though, so I am happy save my energy for the ride home and take my time exploring the coastline.

The Lancer may not have been new, but it was new to the guy who owns it. I, however, was under the impression that it was a new model. The guy paid cash for it, and still had temporary plates.

Pics from my ride today. They don't really need any explaining.
Hit the 2700 mile mark on this bike. Got it mid-April.
Not from my ride, but AT&T's LTE network just went live here in Denver. Before last night, AT&T was the only main carrier (besides T-Mobile) without LTE in the state of Colorado.

No. I was screwing around on an empty road after not being on a bike for a week. I was swerving and leaning and I just fell (fell on the NDS too... it seems I always fall on the NDS) at 25mph. Handlebars became misaligned with the fork, shifter canted inward, and sustained damage as you saw a few posts back. Even though I was wearing a long sleeve shirt under my jersey, my elbow got scraped up pretty badly. I guess it's just due to friction with the cloth, because the long sleeve shirt only has a small tear in it. I'll be back on the bike in a couple of days. Also pretty bruised up on my left thigh, left knee, and left elbow. It sucks because I'm left handed.

I forgot to mention this, but who around here remembers qmsdc15? Well, I was walking around DC with my group and saw a bike with a trailer that I recognized (didn't really get a good look at the rider though). I immediately remembered that it looked like a bike that belonged to him. So when I got back to my hotel, I went on mobile photobucket (which is a PITA to maneuver) and commented on one of his pictures saying that I saw a bike that looked like his in the city. He commented back that it was indeed him, so I gave him my number and we talked. We were going to meet up, but he got an assignment from his agency at the last minute, so he had to cancel.
