Giant Roam vs Norco Scrambler

Anyone have a preference on these two bikes.

The Giant is retailing for about $470 while the Norco is about $400.

I am looking for something that I can do some minor off roading and riding in the city.

Be nice if you post some links to the two bikes.

Bought a Giant Roam 1 three weeks ago and love it so far. Done some trails as well as some pavement. Couldn't be happier with it.

Thanks,
Roger

Two different animals: The Norco has 26" wheels and is more MTB-like. The Giant has 700c wheels and is more road-friendly (although many members here love their hybridized mountain bikes... me included). Based on components alone, the Giant looks like the better deal. It has Avid BB5 brakes vs. the Norco's Tektros, and a lock-out fork, which will allow you to "lock out" the suspension when your riding on pavement. I'm partial to Norco (I own 2 of them) but based on the Internet info you provided the Giant is the better bike (IMHO). That being said, a test ride may prove to you that the Norco is stellar and that the Giant is a slug, so get out there and ride both of them! Don't forget to report back with the results.

Hi, I was looking at the Roam 1 as well. If you don't mind me asking- where were you able to find it at that price? My LBS has it listed at $570. They price match, but are adamant that their price is the best.

Dragon, did you get it? My lbs only gave me that price as I turned away. He gave me his card, wrote the amt., + sheepishly handed it to me. He was much happier when I returned and bought it!

I bought a 2011 Giant Roam 1 a week or so ago. Got it for a great price - $506 + tax = a little under $540 out the door.

I've got 95 miles on it so far on both trails and pavement and love it.
