A simple solution always help. The most simple thing and easiest thing to do if you're a big guy is find out the correct way to ride a road bike. After you know adapt it so it's comfortable. I blasted up a hill in Scotland at 15mph and a strong head wind. I use a hybrid and I always manage to find a way to avoid being blown backwards.

I do lie down in the bars when the wind gets stout. Some aero's might be nice....

Another thought comes to mind. Perhaps it's time to get another bike! You can never have too many, you know.
I'm thinking a honkin' nice road bike, of course.

you cannot have yur cake n eat it too.

hybrid is comfortable when condirions are good. the price you have to pay is when conditions are bad...hybrid not ideal with flat hbar...you can lean forward...but yur elbow stick out like a chicken and massive aerodyn penalty...and cutting off circulation to hand.
