New Looking for a Hybrid

Im new and i havent owned a bike since i was a kid. Im looking for a hybrid since ill be riding mostly on pavements and sometimes on trails. I need some help trying to find a bike. My budget is below $700. I dont know which brand and which model I should be looking at. Any recommendations would be nice. Looking for a bike with front suspension.

would love a bad boy solo headshock but its out of my price range.

im looking at:
gary fisher kaitai
specialized crosstrail sport
trek kaitai

The disc brakes and the shocks add weight and cost. If the trails you plan to ride are pretty smooth then your money might be better spent on a bike without. If the trails are rocky, with jumps and roots etc. then maybe you should look at a mountain bike with an extra set of street tires.

I recently picked up a scott sportster 30 and I love it. their website says its 28lbs I havn't weighed it to get the actual weight so its definatly heavier than a road bike if you ride alot of pavement. I ride mostly pavement and I keep my forks locked for most of it, however, some of the local trails I ride are dirt and I could not imagine not having front suspension. I know scott makes hybrids with and without disc brakes, but coming from moutain bikes I really wanted disc. https://www.scott-sports.com/us_en/pr...8/55809/218070
