DIY Bike Rack for $90

I was in the market for a bike rack and was doing some research. So I came across the Velo-Grip Bike rack https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kTS6IoDDHI0 and I was impressed, until I saw the price $269 for a 3 bike system and $239 for a 2 bike system. so I built one myself for $90 about an hour to install.

Thanks, I had to do something. Since my wife was on my tail about the bike clutter in the Garage.

I think the real reason is that you have 4 bikes and she only has one. Proof in the photo

I put the Bontrager Race Lites that came on my Madone on the 7.5 FX. I got a good deal on them so I decided to pick em up.

I think they are a complete set. I saw these ones in 2007 at a bike show here. They look great!

Dear Rob13,
Love your rack. Where did you buy those brackets with pole holding arms from?

Cheers, cajp

Is that a 6 or 8 ft pole you are using?

NICE! I really dig it! The only improvement I would suggest is to somehow use a padded hook rather than the velcro Husky straps. Looks like it might be a hassle to hang/unhang a bike. But that's a very nice rack!

No problem with the bar holding the weight of five bikes?
