My EA70 Ergo Wing bars are a fairly standard drop. Not shallow, but Definitely not deep. They are shallower than the bars that came on the allez.

Finally finished my drop conversion, just topped it off with fresh bar tape.

I used a 3x7 shimano sora set up and new canti brakes.

A Rockhopper with drops... now I've seen it all.

Looks good!

My 2010 trek 7.3 fx conversion. Just missing the chain and front derailleur! I'm planning to use it for cyclocross, so I guess I'm getting fatter tires after some road testing..

Almost totally complete. (Still need to replace the brake boss on fork DS) and clip all the cables and such. Converted from Sram SX4- (24 spd) to Shimano 2200 w/ Bar ends to Shimano Sora and now finally at Shimano 105 w/ compact double SuperiorLite crank w/ 11x28 cassette and Williams Wheels.

Who or what is this in reference to?

Nice conversion man.

I think that once you start putting drops on your hybrid, you move closer to cyclocross territory.

In fact, even without drops, I've been asked on multiple occasions if my bike is a cyclocross bike. Then, of course, I explain to them what a hybrid is.

More information on the recent (and not so recent) changes to my bike, made since the last time I posted its picture, can be found in the Post pictures of your Hybrid thread. I didn't want to simply copy everything over here.

Thanks for the compliment.

Ok. That is what I thought, but wasn't sure if maybe you were asking for somebody elses changes. Nice job with your conversion. That thing is pure road machine now.

Fiery 03-06-12 07:15 AM

Almost but not quite, and in a good way if you ask me :)

The goal was to get a fast and practical city/urban bike. I've got road bike fit and gearing, but with tires and wheels strong enough to withstand curb hopping, potholes, tram tracks and all sorts of debris, as well as occasional forays off paved roads. While nowhere near a weight weenie it is still quite light for carrying up and down stairs too. I feel "city cross" describes it best, and that's exactly what it says on the frame too.

Your bike awesome too; I'd love to have a Giant frame.

X-LinkedRider 03-06-12 08:09 AM

You have hit a winner. A road bike that is strong enough for the brutality of city streets. Very nice.

Yes, the Giant frame is fantastic. I grew up riding giants so when I got back into riding 6 years ago, naturally a giant was a perfect choice. I took this Bike (Well frame) across the country in 2008, well completed about 2500 miles of touring and that was when it was a flatbar road bike with all stock parts. I can't wait to take it out for a week or so at a time this year.

Anyone done a drop bar conversion for awhile? I'm slowly getting parts to turn my Sirrus into a cyclocross/commuter.

TomCat_Ford 08-09-14 09:05 PM

I recently "converted" mine using drop bar bar ends; see this thread for more details:
