My new Coda Comp
After months and months of looking online, I finally went out and tried some bikes. After reading a lot of great things about the Giant Escape, I went to my nearby dealer...unfortunately they didn't have the Escape 1 in stock. Rode the Escape 2 and Escape 0. Both felt really good, and the SRAM derailleur on the Escape 0 was great. Didn't like the white color they had, so on I went to try out a Jamis Coda Sport.
The Jamis dealer had a Coda Sport that was a bit too big for me, but they just happened to have a Coda Comp that fit me like a glove...and why, in black as well! It's like they knew I was coming and were temping me. The Coda Sport rode just as well as the Giants, but the Coda Comp...I knew I was going to end up spending some more money! The ride was better than the Escape 0 to me, and the Deore derailleur seemed just as good as the SRAM on the Escape 0. Plus, aesthetically appealed to me much more. So I'm the proud new owner of a Jamis Coda Comp, and I'm loving it. Put on a rack and panniers that I had on a different bike, and I'm good to go. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8002/7...235e2847a4.jpg Untitled by Evan G, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8022/7...2d5af03d3e.jpg Untitled by Evan G, on Flickr http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8001/7...384caa574b.jpg Untitled by Evan G, on Flickr I went out for a 22 mile inaugural ride on my birthday yesterday, taking in some of the sights of the LA coastline. Great setup, the black and silver is looking better every time I see it. There's been plenty of Jamis love here lately.

Congrats!! I'm totally happy with my 2012 Coda Sport, luckly as I just didn't have the FUNDS to go for a Coda Comp. ENJOY! :)

Most of the cost was covered from a very generous Father's Day/birthday combined gifts from my family, but yes, I did spend a fair amount of my own as well.

Congratulations on your new bike! Cro-Moly, flat-bar hybrids are my favorite type of bike. I'd love to test ride a Coda but I've never found a Jamis dealer who has one in stock.

Very few Jamis dealers in LA, and the place I went to had a handful of Commuters, but just two Codas in. Shoutout to Orange 20 Bikes--they gave me some great service.

Nice looking bike erg79! The panniers look great. You have a quality bike there and it will last a lifetime. You get what you pay for and you'll have fewer problems down the road with a quality bike. I like this thread because it shows that people come to BF, learn, ask for advice, take lots of test rides and end up with a bike that meets their needs.
