also I checked the first mile of today's ride against yesterdays ride and the elvations look pretty different form the same ride. so I will assume they are not good.

You have areas that are below sea level?

Hope that map isn't too accurate to let others know where you live.

scooterfrog 08-07-12 02:13 PM

Why not. i would be happy to ride with any one here and if they steal my bike ... bonus. its all public record. my house is on the map. but you would have to drive by to get the address. no google street view.

I think the elevations may be right(ish) days 1,2,3 have very similar looking first 2 miles and they should because the first 1.8 are the same.

one thing that has been bugging me about the bike (now called craptastic) is that the water bottle was under the down tube and it's a big tube click on the image to see the cage
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=266465
i could not reach it from the seat while riding so I had to stop and get water.

I had bought plastic this cage to get free shipping and the cap screws for the bottle mounts on that down tube were too short because the mount is thicker so it was sitting in a box.

I moved the computer over and ziptied it to the bar. it should hold just fine and doesn't interfere with the brakes or the grip shifters. it is a side entry cage so I will just pull it up. i will see how it works tomorrow. probably with a smaller bottle
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=266463

Also I rode a trek 7.1 fx. i liked it better than craptastic but It was geared to low. se the other tread on my musing on buying a bike for more info

How about attaching it to the stem, so it angles upwards, with the top of the bottle facing away from you?

iI will give that a try.

Check your LBS for a mount that will bolt to the handlebars, then you add a normal water bottle cage to the mount. My wife's 13 inch frames only come with one frame mount for a water bottle cage so I got the older style, handlebar mount water bottle cage but it's a bit of PIA to mount tight. If I'd have known there was a handlebar mount you can add a standard water bottle cage to, I would have bought it instead. FYI.

I saw that at target for $7 with a cage. But that mught break my "no more money on this bike Rule". Or I could rationalize that away by saying I will put on the next bike :)

I was at target on Friday so I picked up the "universal water bottle bracket"

it worked much better than my jury rigged option for ... 7 dollars.
3 miles on the weekend with my kids at park. and I got my last kid of training wheels. she will be 10 in September ( the other 2 her twin and my 6 year ol have been off for a while)

and a 7 mile ride this morning. nearly identical to Friday's

PatrickGSR94 08-13-12 08:02 AM

Yeah when I think about what I have spent on my bike in the past few months, I justify it by thinking that a majority of it would have been spent whether I had bought a different bike or not - water bottles and cages, seat bag, lights, computer, lock. Only things I've bought really specific to my bike are handle bars (probably won't use, only $12), stem, and front fork. And then less so tires and tubes, which I probably would have ended up buying anyway if I got another used bike.

woo hoo. just finished up one more ride and look here 101.4
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=269134

now my wife and I can talk budget about a new bike. which put me in something like a specialized sirus or secteur or a bikesdirect flat bar road or just a new rigid frame, fork and tires, with the necessaries to swap (cables etc)
