Help Finding a Bike?

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of looking for a new bike, hopefully in the urban/hybrid category. $0 - 1000 is my price range, but i have a little wobble room. The problem I am currently facing is that there are very many bike companies with even more bikes out there, and i can only learn so much by myself. So, to the hive mind it was! I need your help, well, with two things. I have never ridden a bike with a belt drive, and all the reviews are extremely positive. If you liked it, please, tell me. If you didn't, could you tell me why? I also like internal shifting, but neither of these previous features are a need - just a want. Here are some of the bikes I like (links):

^ i am aware that the UCO1 is out of my range, but i found one for about $1000.

any help, information, or replies are very much appreciated.

You've got a decent budget set aside, so now you need to step away from the computer and go visit any and all bike shops in your area and ride any and all bikes that strikes your fancy within budget. You're shopping for the LBS as much as the bike at this point.

Go for the test rides, narrow down your list a bit, then come back here and use us as a sounding board.

And the belt drive w/IGH is rather pricey. It didn't catch on as good as I'd hoped- was wanting more people to adopt that tech to drive the price down to where I might be able to snag it for myself.

IMHO you're missing one bike that would make even more sense in your line up.

It's the Raleigh Cadent i8 ~ $740
www.raleighusa.com/bikes/fitness/cadent-i8-13

Though, I do like the Avanti and the Public D-8! :thumb:

PS.

Get the 2012 model, for some reason the 2013 model doesn't have the carbon fork!

*********************

Avoid aluminum alloy forks at higher price points., like the Specialized and the Jamis.

Why buy a hi-tensile steel Corduroy bike with a IGH? That's a hi-end, lo-end mix!

The BMC is over priced! Though it looks nice...

Rather than the Specialized, I'd rather have Schwinn's JD City suspension that comes with Schwinn's City IG8 at just $890

The Vanmoof looks weird to me. Though that's not to say that others won't like it!

Wow! thank you so much for finding the schwinn, it is a beauty, with a more friendly price tag. And an internal gear hub!
