How are the bikes from bikesdirect.com

I bought my Crossstrail at an LBS and have been thinking about buying another. I have no issues with sizing or making my own adjustments on the bike. Has anyone bought a bike at bikesdirect? Looking at the specs the bikes seem to be half the price of a name brand. Are the bikes sold on bikesdirect.com quality?

This is discussed constantly on the road forum. BD bikes are okay. The problem as opposed to buying locally is you need to know your size as well as component sizes well. Plus you need to be able to deal with warranty, adjustment, etc. issues yourself.

For the money, you are getting a no name frame and reasonable parts.

I just got a (see below), and it has quality components and the Taiwanese frame is of quality construction. Considering I would have to special order a titanium frame bike at any of the LBS in my town it would have cost me at least twice as much to get a comparable bike from an LBS. As my favorite LBS told me, I made a good choice in this bike and he can't blame me for going that route.

I bought my wife and I Motobecane Jubilees with the Nexus 8 IGH. My wife got her bike and I was impressed...I just got mine about month ago and love it.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably go that route in a few months.

+1 to no name frame and reasonable parts. I've seen some people have issues with the assembly. IIRC, the bottom bracket is not greased well. You don't get to try the bike so sizing may be an issue, although your LBS will be happy to take $50-75 to fit you. I've been tempted by that Ti Moto. If it were Di2, I would have to chew off my arms to keep from ordering one.

I have always been looking @ a Moto frame. But I have recently changed my mind to buying a surly cross check frame and building it my self. I havent bought anything yet but they are still look tempting. Im gonna spend more building an cross check in the long run and it will be a heaver bike, but a very good bike.

I bought a Windsor Stratford a few years back from them, it worked out fine.
