2013 Giant Escape
For 2012 Giant had 4 models in the Escape series, 0, 1, 2 and City. This year all I see are the RX, RX 1, all over $1,000 and the City. What happened to all the budget models? I picked my kid up and Escape 2. It's really a nice bike for the money.

Hey Cs1,
I could be wrong about this, but I think the budget models are still there. When I went down to the LBS to get my Escape 3 serviced the manager said that Giant was back ordering his next shipment of 2013 Escapes. I don't know about the Escape 1, but the 2 and 3 are still on his floor. The RX is a different animal and based on the Rapid, from what he said. I'd love to try out an RX, by the way. Also, Escape is the top-selling Giant model, according to this dealer and a Giant factory owned dealer I visited a month ago in Boston. Good luck to you. Fred |
Nope, they're all still there. In fact they added another model so there is 3,2,1,0 and City.

Did you try a keyword search on Giant's homepage? The results that I got indicate the only model not listed is the Escape RX 0 W.

The Escape RX looks pretty neat. I wonder how the Giant discs feel? Raw finish would be cool to see up close.
When I tried out the Escape I also tried a Roam and I wanted to like it better. The Roam is a great looking bike, but I swear the Escape is one of the easiest rolling bikes I have tried out. The Roam would have been a great choice if I thought I would be hitting some dirt part of the time. I go back and forth about about my Escape, but I am learning about hybrids by owning it. My mountain bike might have to go to a new home because it sits on a new set of tires as I ride the Escape daily. |
