Brooks saddles advice
 

I have a pretty upright riding position on my commuting and all around transportation hybrid, mainly because of numbness issues in my hands and back pain with a more bent over position. I also have a fairly wide sit bone measurement for a guy, from what I understand. I'm looking at getting a Brooks saddle and hoping some of you may have experience with what I'm looking at. I really like the looks of the B66/67 as well as the Flyer. No interest in a B17.

Then I have no advice as I ride a B17.

I have B17 also, got it a xmas gift so no milage on it yet.
My advice is to research the internet for a good price. I didn't think you could get much off on Brooks saddles but I was mistaken. You can get up to 50% off on a great deal.

B-17 Imperial on the hardtail & hybrid. Check around for a local or online Brooks vendor that offers a "loaner" program.

there are wider Brooks saddles than the B17 .. which is what that is , buy one.

Wall Bike in NOLA, will even let you return it if not the saddle you seek.

The Flyer is a B17 with springs, so if it is the shape you object to, you need to know that.

If you want something wider, the B66/67 is a good choice. My wife has a B67s on her end of the tandem. I've got several B17's a Team Pro and a Colt.

I have the the B67 on my Trek Sawyer & was comfortable right out of the box. I have the Flyer on my Kona Dr. Fine and it is so hard...thank goodness it's sprung. They sure have gone up quite a bit in the last year...got mine for $85 here. http://www.outsideoutfitters.com/pm-...7-saddles.aspx

I love the smooth hardness of the B-17. It's so easy to move around on...... Yes, it does take a lonng time to break your butt into them, but, it's worth it!

I just started breaking in my first Brooks, a blk. Flyer. Works for me. My seat is 20mm below the bars on a Trek DS 8.6.

As getting fit permits I'll be lowering the bars. If I were to raise the bars another 20mm, a B67/68 might work.

BTW, my sit bones are wider than the average bear and have used LBS women's saddles in the past.

I understand you were asking about a Brooks saddle, but I just put this saddle on a Giant Rapid and have to say it was the most comfortable saddle I have ever tried. They offer a 30 day trial too. I will be keeping mine.

I have a B67 on a Trek 8.6 DS and love it.

Hi, all. I'm a newbie to the forum and need some advice/help in identifying this saddle that came with a Trek Portland I just picked up. It's a Brooks B.17 Champion Special. Has steel rails, hammered copper rivets and it appears to be a an olive-light brown color. The underneath leather is stamped "OJ5'" and the rear of the steel frame has slots for hanging a bag.

Any ideas? Would a couple photos help? Thanks in advance for whatever help you can offer. -Tony

Sounds like you've already identified it. Are you trying to find out when it was made?

According to this source it was probably made in 2005.

I have a Flyer. Springs are stiff, so it doesn't bounce, but does the job only when it's needed (big bumps, rough paths etc). A very good seat.
