There is all types and styles of Hybrids, not a one fit all bike. But here is one I have been building for a fast light city bike. Nothing on the bike is factory, except the frame and fork. Here is a list of the components.
Brakeset Shimano New 105, caliper brakes brakes, Tektro Eclipse, carbon lever levers Shift Levers Shimano R-770-10, Rapidfire Front Derailleur Shimano FD-R770 Ultegra for flat H/B's Rear Derailleur Shimano New Ultegra, 10-speed, short cage Crankset FSA SL-K, hollow carbon 2-piece, five arm, super high modulus carbon, 50Ax36A teeth Pedals Platform Bottom Bracket FSA Mega EXO BB Shell Width Unspecified Rear Cogs 10-speed, 12 - 27 teeth Chain Shimano CN-6600 Seatpost Specialized Alloy Suspesion Saddle Body Geometry Avatar, microfiber, hollow Cr-Mo rails Handlebar Specialized, carbon, 580mm width, 3 ply weave Handlebar Extensions Not included Handlebar Stem Specialized 3D forged alloy, 6 degree rise Headset 1 1/8" Specialized Mindset integrated threadless, with triple sealed cartr Wheels Hubs Front: Shimano R600, Shimano QR, Rear: Shimano R600, aluminum freehub body, Shimano QR Rims Shimano R600, 16-hole/20-hole Tires 700 x 23c GATORHARDSHELLS Spoke Brand Stainless steel, 14ga. (2.0mm) aero Spoke Nipples Unspecified The Allez Frame Road race & triathlon Weight Unspecified Size 56cm Colors Brushed/Black TIG-welded Frame Tubing Material Specialized A1 aluminum Fork Brand & Model Specialized C-2 Fork Material Carbon fiber composite w/aluminum steerer, unicrown crown I'm pretty happy with the components, and finally feel like the bike is dialed in for me. :) What I wanted to know from you guys, is what extras should I put on it ? But I do not want to weight the bike down to much, or it would defeat the whole purpose. Bike weighs 20.2 as it sits in the pictures below. I would like an awesome super bright rear blinky, bright front head lamp, water bottle holder, and probably an under saddle tool kit. Co2 , tire levers, extra tube, all in one bike tool, etc.... And also what I might do to ( bling the bike up ) so to speak. Any ideas on the brand of accessories, color, etc.. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=306279 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=306280 http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=306281 I'm pretty content with the overall bike as it sits, but any new ideas would be great. Adding the accessories is starting to be a challenge, there are so many to choose from. I can spend a decent amount on them, just want light weight, nice looking, and to work good. Thanks in advance, really want the team to help me with ideas to complete it. :D |

Nice setup! I had an aluminum Trek hybrid for 5 years and aluminum bikes FEEL fast and sporty! My bike had hybrid geometry and a $30 crankset so I can't imagine what your 105 equipped road bike geometry feels like. Probably like a rocket.
I started doing something similar last year to my old 1995 Trek but over time I took an interest in bicycle geometry and figured out what I liked and didn't like about that Trek. Long story short, I ended up getting a new Handsome Devil frame last week and I'm building a Deore level bike. A co-worker saw a picture of my Trek on my laptop and asked me about it and wanted some suggestions for she and her husband to get into bike riding. I could see the look of shock on her face when I advised her to go to an LBS and prices would probably start around $400-500 for an appropriate bike (she's a fitness buff and in great shape..probably not gonna want a cruiser). I didn't have the heart to tell her that the wheels alone on my bike cost more than the bike did when it was new in 1995. :roflmao2: |

Suppose mudguards, but thats because it is where I live
the French Berthoud company has some in Carbon fiber so as to keep both wheelspray and weight down.. and I dont care for round grips, any more, after trying Ergon grips, and their comfortable palm support.. this one includes a carbon fiber Bar End http://www.ergon-bike.com/us/en/product/gs2-carbon GS1 is w/o bar end & flatlands the 36t chainring seems un needed , you could put a 46 on there, and the shift between the 2, 50-46 would be a snap. Paris Roubaix is not a hilly race, they use a 46-53.. |

Nice bike!
I'm a big fan of triples, and would probably opt for 50, 40, 30 chainrings. Plenty of go, and enough low. I can't imagine a hybrid without fenders, and a rack. I might have to look at those CF mudguards....... . Hmmmmmmmm. |

Your right it was a 105 group set stock, now its Ultegra except the Brakes. It does feel super fast though, but setting it up to fit got complicated, went through 3 stems, 120.00 dollars worth :( now laying in my growing pile. But the adjustable one works awesome. :D I seen the bike your building (the frame) so your going the MTB group set components ? I live in flat Florida now, and love the 10 speed rear, no use for the MEGA gear like back in North Carolina.. :)

Wanderer that's where I went today, picked up a Giant Escape City. Fenders and all, :thumb: I don't know about you guys, but when I get a new bike, the other sometimes hits the back burner. :) Never thought I would be riding with fenders. :p
