Time for some routine maintenance on the Chris King R45 disc hubs (front today).

Axle removed, next job is to remove the spring clip/weather seal to expose the bearings.

Have a look in there!!! Bit awkward to do, but knew that micro Leatherman would come in handy one day. Erdinger helped too.

Cleaned and lubed the bearings, greased the axle and reassembled. I think the recommended periods for servicing the CK hubs is a bit of an overkill, more people are likely to knacker the spring clip or seal, than lack of lube or excessive dirt in the bearings.

Also chopped the width of the handlebars, now 580mm wide, lowered the angle of the stem and put 28/11 cassette back on.

Have ordered some Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 SPD-SL Clipless Pedals & new shoes

plus a medium caged 105 rear mech. The shoes and pedals should be a massive improvement to the 520 spd's and old mountain bike shoes. This bike is nearly sorted.

Thank you, it's the comp - and a very underestimated bike.

Fitted Shimano A600 pedals instead of the dura ace carbon ones as planned. The shoes that arrived didn't fit as good or feel much stiffer than my mtb spd shoes. The A600 platform feels better than the 520's, being one sided clip in is an easy habit to adapt to. A decent weight aswell.

Anyhow, the Tektro brakes annoyed me as the levers rattled. XTR brakes are now fitted, cost an arm & a leg - but they are the dogs bollox. One finger braking.

Today I swapped out the wheels and tires on my 2011 Roam 2. Also, adjusted the brakes to suite the narrower rims.

Had a set of stock Roam 2 wheels with Kenda Kwest 700x32 tires on it. Decided to see what some narrower tires would feel like so I grabbed an old set of Alex rims and put a set of Conti Ultra 2000 700x28 tires on them. Removed the cassette from the Roam rims and put on the Alex rims. Adjusted brakes.

I plan on riding tomorrow, but may just head out this evening too.

Decided to paint my son's Rotors a color he's been wanting to add to his bike. I'm planning on painting mine red this weekend!

I replaced the suspension seat post and saddle on my Fuji Crosstown with an Origin8 seat post, and a Planet Bike ARS saddle. I rode it to work Friday, and it rides nice. Looks weird to me, but I'm used to seeing it with the original saddle.

What tyres were on before? Great seatpost, have you noticed much difference?

had the stock 700c30 tires on axis classic wheels then switched to Crux axis classic spec wheels with the s works turbo 24. This thing is fast now!

awesome seatpost and switched to it anticipating a harsher ride with new tires. Way comfy compared to alloy post, might also get the romin pro seats.

Painted my disc rotors red. Added Cyglolite Metro 400 light set since I start biking around 5:30am now. We're losing daylight and found I needed some lights. I've also purchased a new Transit D1 rack and trunk bag. Haven't installed those yet.

New Gatorskin rubbers to replace oem tires. Took them for a long ride this morning, and not sure Im going to keep them. Was sloooowwwww the whole ride. Felt like in sand the whole time. Will try again with higher pressure in a couple days.

I had the same thoughts on the gatorskins. I run 85# in them still fill slower than the oem tire. I got about 2k miles on them will be switching back till i find a different set.

I was using the rec 85# pressure as well. Going to try 90-95# next time. Max is supposed to be 102.

So far it is. I haven't gotten the bike muddy yet since painting these. Hopefully it will hold up well.

So fed up on my FD shifter.. Sometimes it dont react immediately when trying to go to the bigger chain ring when i want to go fast. Adjusting the HIs and LOWs scres almost every other week, that even during long biking i have to bring a screw driver in case the chain guide comes in contact with the chain.
So last weekend, I did this..

Looks neat and simple I supposed

And next year, im hoping not to have this kind of mud anymore on my chain..

Shedding them off.. I lose 700grams on my bike's weight.

First real ride with the Trek 8.3 DS today, an 18 miler on Chicago's Lakefront Trail. Felt pretty good.

Added a Sigma wireless computer, Bontrager rear rack, Cygolites front and back, and a bottle cage.

Sorry about your broken ankle. This May, after 44 years of driving, I hit a deer with the truck (well, the deer actually hit the truck) while doing 75mph (the truck, not the deer). No one was hurt, save the deer, and the truck suffered about $5,500 damage. Pretty scary stuff. 'Coulda been worse' certainly holds true...
