Based on features and specifications which is the better value?

I want to upgrade my 10 year old hybrid to something new but I'm not familiar with all the different bicycle components. Looking to buy in the next couple of days and I'm undecided. Based solely on specs such as wheels, tires, shifters, derailleurs, etc., which one is a better value?

Specialized Sirrus Sport ($619)

or

Trek FX 7.4 ($719)

thank you

Well, based on these two I would go with the Trek 7.4. It comes with a carbon fork and IsoZone handlebars and grips. But if it was me then I would test ride the Trek 7.4 against the Giant Escape 0 which also has a carbon fork but is a 10 speed.

Better ride them both. Even though similar bikes, The Trek FX, and the Specialized Sirrus, feel very different. One is usually very much more comfortable to ride, for every individual.

I agree. You want to buy the bike that fits you best; the only way to do that is to test ride them.

As an example, my wife had it narrowed down to a Giant Escape 1W and a Specialized Vita last spring when we bought her a new bike. She was leaning towards the Specialized because she liked the colors (black and pink), but then she rode them both. We ended up walking out the door with the Giant because it fit her better and she was a lot more comfortable on it.

Component factories don't have favorites .. they just sell to the bike assembly factories
at same Prices, per volume of parts Order..

if the cost the same , then the total value of the parts is the same.

Go test ride them both..

A wise observation, : & suggestion.. pick the Dealer first, then the bike brand they sell ..

The Trek and Giant's carbon forks will ride noticeably better than the Spec's alloy. The Giant has a level nicer bits than the Trek, but the Trek's 9spd drivetrain will last longer and be cheaper to replace than the Giant's 10spd. You do need to really ride the bikes though, spec sheets aren't everything.
