Trek 4300 to a Trek 7.4

I've had a Trek 4300 (2002 model) since new, its still in great condition and has not been modified at all.. I'm very interested in getting a Trek 7.4FX... My interests for use is gaining better fitness and/or joining a (recreational cycle group) nothing serious!!

My question is! should I get a Trek 7.4FX or is it more advisable to upgrade my 4300? + (is it financially sound to upgrade)

..whilst I'm here, my budget is £500-600 is there a better option to the Trek 7.4FX

thank you...

I went from a 2010 4300 Disc to a 7.2 FX (v brake). No regrets. I go all over on my bike. Long distance or short, doesn't matter. I have rack and panniers for commuting and shopping. Love it
