Norco XFR fender options

Hi All,

I'm new to the bike world, just bought my first bike in almost 20 years, and am planning on trying out the commute. I've bought a Norco XFR 3 and am looking to install a set of fenders before the rain comes this fall. I see so many options out there and am curious is anyone has any experience of what seems to work the best. It has 700x42c wheels and disc brakes... I'm not sure what implications the brakes may play. Ideally, I'd like to also install a rear rack... so again, I'm not certain how this plays into it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

For the rear, the discs are moot;your caliper is mounted on your chainstay,so it's out of the way. The biggest issues will be the suspension fork and how much clearance you have. If you have enough clearance,Planet Bike Cascadia 29ers will work. Otherwise,Civia and SKS make narrower fenders that will clear 42mm tires(PB's Hybrid width fenders won't). The rear fender(and rack) should go straight on. For the front, you'll need a shorter bolt for the top mount(in the middle of the brace that connects the legs) and some P clips to mount the side struts to the fork legs. P clips and nuts/bolts should be available at any decent hardware store.

Planet Bike Hardcore, in 29er size, will fit. Not much wider than the tire, but most of everything comes off the center of the tire. Just mount them with enuf clearance when you install them.
