Hey everybody, just had a question. whats your take on the diamondback insight 1? this will be my first purchase.. gettin back into cycling and i thought this would be perfect for me.. Just wanted to get everyones thoughts on it and pro's and con's.. Thanks guys!!!

For the money, diamondbacks are a solid choice. The components on that bike are on the lower end, but I'm sure they'd suffice for riding. Remember, diamondback basically manufactures the frame and maybe the bars, seat post, and other bits of the like. (If we want to get technical, we can even say diamondback doesn't manufacture these, rather, a factory in Taiwan that supplies frames to a dozen other bike companies.) The rest of the parts are taken from manufacturers like shimano, suntour, etc. And these can usually be upgraded or swapped should you want to. Any who... I think the bike should be fine for whatever you throw at it. They have a one year warranty and will work with your nearest dealer should you need anything. I crashed my DB Trace Comp the other day at ~23 mph and the only thing that happened was a scratched pedal and derailer. The derailer even stayed in adjustment!

The thing for me is that the Insight looks soo close (almost identical) to the TREK fx line... i didnt really want to drop that kind of money before im sure i am gona be doing this on the reg..

That was the same with me. My Trace Comp has near identical geometry to a specialized crosstrail, which is the expensive model I wanted, but went for the DB at the cost of hydraulic brakes. Which I didn't want anyway. If the frame is something you like, then look next at the individual components, read about them, and decide if they're ones you want.

The Insight is a solid bike. I have ridden my buddies and you can't beat it for a starter to get back going with

i seriously cannot wait for it to come in!!!! i took my fiance's Huffy (sorry if thats a curse word lol) around town today.. went a total of about 10 miles and it was awesome....

Good for you, you will enjoy your new bike. As far as the Huffy, the less you worry about what internet db's say about others bikes the better you'll be.

thanks man yea im def. not against them just seems like theres ''those people'' out there... her bike 15 years old and still works like a charm

Never had any problems with mine, apart from popping a spoke when I dropped off the edge of a concrate path. Completed another 50 mile ride today, the second this month, and never a complaint. I put about 6000 miles a year on mine, and apart from replacing tires, it hasn't needed much apart from regular cleaning and lubing.
It handles as well (and I think looks better) as my buddy's Trek 7.2, his words..

I just finished riding the C&O Canal Towpath and Great Allegheny Passage with my DB Insight 1. The ride was great and the bike was terrific throughout.
