Any experience with Trek FX 7.4

Hello people,

I'm considering hybrids for long commuting trips and touring. And I test ride this bike which I really liked. But I would like to hear the opinion of other riders who owns this particular model or similar. Thanks in advance for the feedback :thumb:

Jedi,

I have had a 7.5 FX for about months and have a 175 miles on it. I think it is great. I enjoy riding very much. The 7.5 has a 9sp compact drive where the the 7.4 has the triple. I have the compact on my road bike too and I think that is the way to go, but I may not have the type of terrain you do. The frame is strong, quick, and responsive. I like the longer wheel base than the Madone and it cruises great. I also thougth the 7.5's "Iso Zone" bars and rear seat stay where marketing hype, but they really work and make a big difference over the older 7500 I had before. With the carbon fork it is a smooth ride over the paths and road. Overal the the Trek FX is a well designed and built bike. Hard to go wrong with one.

Thanks for the comment! Guess I would buy it. Its a matter of choosing the size size, I'm in between the 17.5/20, one is a little smaller the other bigger.

I've had my 7.4 for about 7 months and I am very happy with it. I just came off a very long stint of no riding at all (9 years, road bike, steel frame) and decided if I'm going to get back into it I'd like to go the hybrid route. This thing weighs about 1/2 of what my old bike did. It seems to be well built and easy to work on. I can't see myself buying another bike for at least another 4 or 5 years if not longer. Very happy.

I have a 2010 7.5 with triples. I like it better than doubles. My Madone has double which is find but I like more gears on the hybrid.
