Hybrid tyres

So, I've reached the conclusion that my rugged mountain bike isn't the best options when I want to travel the half tarmac half dust secondary roads of my region or take the occasional short tour. So I've decided to pick up an early nineties back and, as soon as some money starts rolling in on september, turn it into a hybrid. First step: substitute foam saddle for a Brooks, which I've been using for months in different bikes. Second step: check that gears are working: they are. Third step: check brake pads (ok) and change cables: done. Fourth step, change tyres. I went to the shop in the town where I spend my holidays, and either it's mountain bike tyres, road tyres or "leisure" tyres, which can't handle any abuse at all. Now I'm back in Barcelona and I have a bit more options, and I don't discard the web, so any nice hybrid tyres, that can fit a 26 mm road under 40 euros?
Thanks!

Not quite sure what you mean by "fit a 26 mm road" but if you're looking for a good tire for a hybrid that's virtually indestuctable I'd recommend Continental Gator Hardshells. They're essentially a slick so won't give you any useful tread for really loose or muddy conditions, but will work fine on tarmac, hard pack dirt, or small gravel. Should fit your price point.

I have run these Wilderness Trail Bikes Product Reviews and Ratings - Components - WTB All Terrainasaurus MTB Tire from Nashbar and really liked them.

I mounted these to a 26" x 1.50 rim on a 1990 hybrid. They now have ~200 miles on them on mostly tarmac, but also some dirt roads. I ride with panniers weighting up to 30lbs and they have handled well. Amazon.com : Continental City Ride Tire : Sports & Outdoors

I found these on Amazon.uk.com as well: Continental Travel Contact 0111340 MTB Tyres 26 x 1.75 (47-559) Black Reflex

Let us know which tyre you decide on too!

If you have a 29er, Freedom Cruz 700 X 52 slicks are the ticket.
