How is bike riding in northeast Connecticut?
I'm looking for good places to retire and near the top of my list of "must haves" is good biking. Good biking to me lots of quiet paved roads without mountains. I like rolling ills or flats. Looking at a map. it appears that northeastern Connecticut fits that description well. It looks like there is a good network of quiet rural roads ideal for biking. Is anybody familiar with that area? If so, how is the biking?

I suppose anyone familiar with rural northeastern Connecticut is thinking today, "How can anyone talk about biking with a nor'easter slamming us!" So I guess the timing of this post is not so good. But if you are familiar with this neck of the woods, I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for the feedback. The photos are great and very inviting. I currently live in Middlebury, Vermont and it looks very similar to this area. Housing prices are high here too. I'm attracted to the Putnam area as it will be warmer than Vermont and closer to big cities. Burlington (Vermont) is a nice small city but I'd like something bigger.

Lots of great rides up in that area of VT that I'm planning on trying (VTOGP, VT Fall Classic). Putnam is pretty small but has a few decent restaurants downtown and shopping plazas on the outskirts. We go out to dinner in Putnam on First Fridays quite often. The biggest cities close by would be Worcester, MA and Providence, RI, 30-45 minutes away.
