Trek FX 7.2 vs Giant Escape 2???

I have already tried the Giant (actually the Liv Alight 2 which is the womens model).
Before I buy it, I am wondering if I should try a Trek also?
I am a newbie and know next to nothing. Have not ridden a bike in over 20 years. Just looking for something to ride with my kids, and also for fun & fitness.
I definitely want ease and comfort.
Would love opinions, comparisons, and pros and cons of these two bikes.
Thanks!!

You should always try as many different bikes as reasonably possible, as you can get quite a difference in feel between manufacturers.

Definitely - I was thinking I was going to get the Giant Escape 1 until I rode the Trek 7.4 and found that the 7.4 was a much better ride for me. This stuff is very subjective, gotta try them yourself.

Thanks so much for the feedback.
I spent the day driving back & forth between the Trek store & the Giant/Liv store (and stopped at a 3rd bike store in between...but waaaay out of my price range!!).
I now see what everyone means when the bike fits you will know (I didn't think I would be able to tell).
The Trek was so much more comfortable for me. I really loved it!!
So, I ordered one and should have it in about a week.
I cannot wait!!!!!!

Take a look at the Fuji Absolute line as well. They are a great value. If you have a Performance Bicycle store in your area, they probably have discounted 2014 models as well (or you can go to their website). Giant and Trek make great bikes as well.

Ride a bunch before you buy!
