Possibly looking to buy a used 2012 Specialized Sirrus Limited

How's it going everyone?

I'm new to this forum and have been trying to read up on what information I can before buying a bike. I originally was going to purchase new but think I might just go used. Specifically a 2012 Specialized Sirrus Limited. Size appears to be a M 54.8cm. I'm roughly around 5'7 with a inseam of 31. I know the best way to figure out if it would work for me would be trying it out but I wanted to get some feedback first. Person selling it is about 45 mins away. Could this bike fit me okay? I fall right in between Specialized sizing unfortunately so makes it a little more difficult. I also thought with my shoes, it would give me a little more height as well. They are selling it at $900 firm and appears to be in good condition. Any feedback would be appreciated, especially on the sizing. Thanks!

Is that a carbon bike? If so there is no way it should be valued that low

Thanks for that quick reply earlier "2702". I was trying to reply to you through private messaging but unfortunately could not due to a low post count.

According to the specs, it is.

Specialized Bicycle Components

The geometry seems to be identical to the roubaix. The sirrus carbon frame must be heavier and/or lower grade carbon than the roubaix, however.

I read up a bit and the "r" designation refers to the "tier" of carbon used, with a higher number referring to a lighter carbon frame: 8r is heavier than 10r, for example.

Sounds like a fair price. I would not pay 1200-1300 for any carbon hybrid a couple of years old. I would pay to get it checked out 1st. Can't be more than a half hr labor at the shop.

My thought was also to have it checked out first. Not sure how as it is posted on craigslist. Wondering if I can get the owner to meet me at a bicycle shop but looks like he isn't have a opening in his schedule until this weekend. As for checking out the bike, he's free tonight after work or tomorrow morning before work.

Agreed, they were over $2k new. Most of those 'blue book' sites undervalue used bikes. Assuming it's in good mechanical shape,tires/brake pads/chain are all good, and there's no damage,I don't think the asking price is out of line.

I've had buyers quote websites to me when I was selling bikes. I've even had a couple folks give me grief about the price I was asking, some saying it was a ripoff. And I've waited a year to sell a couple bikes. But I've always gotten about what I wanted, and the person who wound up buying it left happy and never got back to me with any issues. Because of this,I ignore those blue book sites.

Picked up the bike last night! Ended up being a 2013 Limited and not a 2012. Bike is in good to almost perfect condition with a few blemishes here and there but nothing other than normal road use. Going to bring it in to my LBS to have it tuned up and checked out.
