Why choose? I have both...started w/o either on my FX-2, added ergon grips, then bar ends which are adjustable. Helps with the issue of numbness on long rides but not totally.

I vote the Ergons, they seem more seamless than the isozone with the bar ends. Bring back the bontrager carbon trekking bars!!

The main thing about going with Ergons is that you have to swap the entire handlebar out because of the Isozone system on the Trek. (Only on 7.3 & Up)

Personally I think the Isozone grips are equal to if not better than the Ergons, sans bar-ends. I would just get bar-end adapaters for the Isozone system.

Grey - I have not heard that you have swap out the entire handlebar?!? Was talking to someone at the LBS today about grips and the associate mentioned getting rid of the proprietary system. Does this mean the ERGON's will not fit the "Bontrager Satellite Plus IsoZone" handlebar?

I think the specific issue is with bar ends. In which case you either have to purchase the bar ends made for the IsoZone system, purchase an adapter (with dubious success) or replace the handlebar.

Due to the way the integrated bar ends on the Ergon's work I don't think those are possible at all without replacing the handlebar.
