G'day from norway

Hey everyone, I just registered to post on this board, been lurking reading the posts for abot the last week or so and though it was about time :-).

as for some vital stats here goes
Name: Colin
Age: 18
From: Queensland, Australia
Currently living in: Norway

I'm studying in Norway (which is in fact an autonomous country, it is NOT in Sweden ;-) at the moment, and the Norwegian lifestyle has got to me. I came here as a destructively lazy individual (had not so much as run a step in about 5 years), but now I cycle (or run) almost everyday, and I like it.

I look forward to being a part of this community of cyclists.

Colin
BTW I am riding in a 92km race on Sunday, I won't be competing, just in it for the experience, and to get a piece of paper saying 'this crazy bastard spent a perfectly good Sunday riding 92km' (more likely worded as 'congratulations on participating in the 2002 birkenes runden' :-) - I'm hoping I can do it in the ten hours allotted.

Welcome Colin,

I was 18 myself, a long, long, long time ago. Energy levels tend to fall off as you age.

What are you studying?

And why Norway? Nothing wrong with Norway, just a long way from Australia to study.

I saw the title of the thread 'G'day from Norway' and thought it sounded strange. Surely only an Aussie would use such language.

Good to have another Australian on the forums. Enjoy your time in Norway and enjoy your posting on the forums.

I am basically studying music here, with a few 'general' subjects thrown in for good measure. I will be doing this for the next year (home early in the new year).

Why Norway ?? Well, short answer, because I wanted to see snow and learn a new language: note to self - snow is COLD, DAGNAMED COLD (pretty at times though) . Also I get kind of a kick knowing I am pretty much as geographically far from home as I can possibly get hahaha.

thanks for the welcome fellas, I am really enjoying this forum.

Colin,

Have you been riding in the snow yet. I went riding in the snow in Charleston, South Carolina one time. I got a kick out of all the strange looks I got from motorists passing by.

By the way, music is a great field. Just curious, why music? There is a school in the USA for music, Florida State University. Maybe you have heard of it, they also have a great college football team (American football, that is.)

it was just coincidence that I was put in a music school when I came here, but I M loving it so far. Now I'm not just a drummer I'm a drummer who wishes he could play piano and sing hahaha

ok I'm off to sak up some more info on these boards (phenominal place this).

Colin
P.S. Re: the snow riding, no I have not been game enough for that yet (well can't now obviously), next winter I will probably start riding the first half of my journey to school (13km), the second half is almost 40km, a bit too far I think.

Hey, if you want to sing, sing. It's a real hoot to sing to the top of your lungs while riding past a group of people. Try it and see what happens. Just two things to watch out for. The bugs that fly in your open mouth, and the dogs.
