Salutations from northern Cal
Hi everyone! I'm a college senior (22 years old) at this point. I'll be getting my BA in American History with a minor in archaeology from UC Davis this June. I've only been into cycling for a couple of years. But I've really taken to the sport and have tried to immerse myself in it! I took up bike repair as a hobby to prevent idle-mindedness as a freshman, and quickly got into the culture of cycling. Since then I have been promoted to service manager at my current job at the campus bike shop. Wish I could do it forever! I've been through a few of my own bikes, but I do have a couple of favorites:
1979 Nishiki International: Got as a trade for helping a friend of a friend of a friend (true story) move into a geodesic dome house. Suntour Cyclone MK1 with the long cage and power shifters. I affectionately call this bike my wife. It'll be coming with me to Eroica California in April!
2012 Merckx EMX-3: Saved my pennies and dimes, and ate ramen for a while, but it was definitely worth it. I'll be using it to do the Davis Double Century again. So responsive! As soon as I put my foot down it just wants to go!
I love bikes in all shapes and sizes (well, maybe not $99 full suspension mountain bikes). Glad to find a community that feels the same!
