are vintage road bikes "cool" yet?
thinking about putting mine back on the road after 25 years
all I ride these days is my G.P. (general purpose) bike
an aluminum frame deore xt equipped slick tired mountain bike,
while my vintage road bikes hang there patiently,
fresh grease in the bearings, some new tires,
yup it's time, pics to follow,

the "good" riders got new Reynolds 531 frames
the rest of us got stickers to put on our frame
PBC PEUGEOT (Pennsylvania bike club) Peugeot, Hill Cycle, Le coq sportif, team sponsors
this is an aluminum ALAN criterium frame I bought new in 1978, it is too small for me now,
the wheel base is so short your toe clip hits the front wheel in turns, even with clipless pedals
none the less I am putting it back together with whatever parts I can find, and am going to take her for a ride

Most people new to riding may not think so. However, a good vintage bike is as cool as anything out on the road! It'll be our secret....

Cool among cyclists? Depending on the cycling subgroup, yes. Among the carbon aero electronic crowd, maybe not so much. But for most cyclists they're cool.
Cool among the general public? Don't think so. For the general public, bikes are geeky. All bikes; doesn't matter what kind.

YES! and welcome to BF.
Exactly, it all depends on where you live, and who you hang around. IMO, all bikes are cool (there are limits to this... but that's another tread).
This morning, my Globe Daily received a number of compliments from strangers along a commuter route. Same bike on a different ride got the "what is that?" with a sneer from a roadie:

My classic steel road bike gets compliments from people who know a thing or two about bikes. But most people don't notice it as anything special:

The least 'cool' bike is the one nobody rides.
