Greetings from the High Desert!!

Hi, I recently moved to Quartz Hill which is in the High Desert. Early morning rides are the best here!!
I have one mountain bike and two road bikes. A Raleigh Professional and a Ti bike frame made by Mcmahon with a Shimano 105 group.

Looks like a Great Forum!! Jay

Bill, it's near Lancaster and Palmdale in Antelope Valley, Northern Los Angeles County. Mojave and Edwards AFB are a few miles north.

Thanks guys. My wife has family who lived in Palmdale for years. They never mentioned High Desert.

I have heard the term used for both Eastern Oregon and Washington. Thanks for the geography lesson!

I often refuel at William J. Fox airport (KWJF) in Lancaster, and the field elevation there is 2351 feet msl, so it's pretty high. ;)

Enjoy the great weather, I have ridden a few hundred miles in the High Desert, and further east in the low desert of Death Valley too.

I luvs me my Nor Cal, but the desert has a real beauty too, for sure.

Welcome to The Forum.

It's pretty vaguely defined, but Wikipedia says it's above ~2,000 ft msl.

I guess Nebraska qualifies as it's avg elevation is 2600 feet, and it's a pretty flat state....
