Riding for years, want to start repairing and upgrading.

Hello everybody,

My name is Neal. I am wanting to upgrade parts on my Surly Cross Check. I started looking into shifter equipment that would be good to upgrade to but became overwhelmed pretty quick. My brother has recommended I reach out to the bicycle community for some help and directed me here. I was hoping to learn some important information about shifting equipment and get some help selecting parts.

I have three parts I would like to upgrade - my bar end shifters and my front and rear dérailleurs. Would anybody have any suggestions or advice on what to look for?

Thanks,
Neal

welcome to the forum. Your stuff is pretty straight forward. How much do you want to spend... just stay with the brands you have and upgrade to what ever level your pocket book will allow.

The Crosscheck is a good all around bike.

What direction that you choose to upgrade should be determined by how you use your bike. Cyclocross? Touring? Commuting?
