Greetings from California.
Hello. I'm Alyx. I am looking to starting commuting. I don't want to invest into a really expensive bike because I'm not too sure if I will enjoy commuting as much as i'm hoping. I was thinking of getting a GMC Denali I know its extremely cheap and sold at like Walmart but money is a budget. Any tips and tricks? Only commuting Monday and Wednesday.

Welcome. You may also want to consider a good used bike as an alternative to a cheap new bike.
