Good morning!
I guess I should introduce myself... I was injured in a nasty meeting of my Toyota Celica, and nicely preserved Peterbilt Log truck two years ago... I am now no longer able to do my old job(agricultural equipment) so I started tinkering with my bikes for amusement during my lengthy, ongoing recovery.... one thing led to another, and I now have a small bike repair/resale shop going! I will have many questions as I learn this new, quite enjoyable trade. I've been riding since I was 4, and once got stopped by a Disneyland security guard for breaking the parking lot speed limit... he clocked me at 53 mph on flat ground.... on a Mitzutani Seraph Super(the flexi flyer).... for over 1/4 mile....and there was no tail wind to speak of...I was 12 at the time.... that was 44 years ago.
my 1981 trek 930 custom has well over 25,000 miles on it now... yep, I still drag it out and air up the tires for a quick blast down the linear trail that runs through town out here... I avoid the local hiway for obvious reasons... LOG TRUCKS! I have a heavily updated Diamondback Ascent that sees more miles now than the Trek.... the Trek 6700 is just getting dialed in, and should be a fun bike too!
I first laced a wheel at the age of 9... it was the rear wheel of a Bultaco Lobito 100 that I bought complete with a cracked rear hub... I've worked on Motorcycles, been a production machinist, a golf course equipment mechanic, small engine/tractor mechanic, and enjoyed 4 years as caretaker of the Washougal MX Park.... then, there were the ten+ years as a live rock and roll Audio tech/roadie... many fine memories from that job...and some bad ones too.
I've raced a highly modified Honda Odyssey, a 135cc Margay sprint Kart, a KX250, and driven advance car for several rallies in a 1985 Corolla GTS for the Oregon Trail Pro Rally.
this is the short version of my life... it's been one helluva ride at times... I wouldn't change a thing... except maybe falling asleep at the wheel while driving home from work a couple years ago... OUCH... split sternums and crushed ribcages hurt something fierce.... it still hurts.

I share your dislike for log trucks as well...totalled a motorcycle because a log truck crossed the double yellow leaning me no choice but to ride off the road into the trees breaking my back and totalling the bike...1000 miles from home
Good luck in your new endeavor!
