Newer rider in the finger lakes region of NY

I like to ramble so humor first, questions at the bottom:

Now that we moved out the Catskill Mountains of NY and right next to one of the Finger Lakes it make perfect sense for my wife and I to get into Canoeing or some other water sport. My wife wanted to start biking again….. So of course we are biking. Sigh

I dragged her to some LBSs to look at bikes. She was at Dicks sporting goods on Friday and she fell in love with a Diamondback Clarity 1 that fit her perfectly. So you know where I spent money this weekend. Sigh

I figured I would just pick up the men’s equivalent bike but they did not have one. They had a GT Vantara Comp on sale. Based on subsequent research it looks like GT resurrected the name to do a one off for Dicks. Based on the equipment (Tachyon frame, Shimano gears and shifters) the sale price is about the right price to pay for it.
So basically I did everything incorrectly. The guy who sold it to us is a rider himself and stayed late to make all the final fitment adjustments to make sure we were set up correctly. Really appreciated the extra help he gave us.

Hey Paul?!? Where are the questions? Well Paul not only rides bikes he can also read:

“The Introductions Forum should not to be used as a help forum.

Please post any bike or cycling related questions in one of the more appropriate forums as this will assure that you get the best answer in the shortest amount of time.”

If you got this far thanks for reading

Yes, we were riding Old Rusty and Mrs. Rusty earlier in the week and I could not keep up with her. Getting her a new lighter bike meant that I needed a newer even lighter bike just so could fall behind more slowly.

Well of course she is she married me.

Seriously though, after 28 years of marriage there is a lot of good and bad we could say about each other, but she is smart even though for years she did not know it.
