Finally getting around to this
Whats up everyone? Hope everyone is enjoying themselves as they casually browse through the forums. I may have been on here years ago, but I dont believe i ever introduced myself. I am a 20 year old kid who likes biking, I have been biking since about 3 years old and i always found it to be the best thing ever. Currently i just got back from my 30 mile calm ride. I ride all types of bikes and enjoying everything, i have a BMX bike (we the people beyond 2009? i believe, got it used from a local bike shop), my wal-m@rt bought bike when i was 4, a next whomp (still an awesome bike i have to put back together, i actually killed the bottom bracket), 2 mountain bikes, both specialized, 1990's bikes, a purple rockhopper and a silver and blue-ish hard rock, which neither have suspension, but fun to take on trails. I have a super hefty but practically bullet proof, and new, free spirit with index stem shifters, got that from a friend of mine for free, and i actually enjoy riding that bike around, it really is comfy. I also had a fixed gear bike, which started as a second hand maffik cromoly bike, which bottom bracket is stuck, that i then stripped of all parts to a schwinn world tour frame, that i got from CL for 20 bucks (i think that was a great deal considering a bb cost about 30 bucks...) but that frame has died due to an accident with a car... but i have the old maffik laying around, and was given a pure fix frame, but not sure if ill do fixie too much anymore considering how my city isnt great for cyclist (it is and isnt).
Lastly i do have a sort of pride and joy for this bike, it is an older motobecane mirage made from 2040 steel, not a great bike from what i have read, but i wouldnt really know, considering i basically upgraded the bike as soon as i got it. I rode it stock once or twice, the friction shifters for some reason where stuck in place, but i think the set screws were tampered with or the cable just rusted together to the adjuster (its in my basement). so it refused to shift, also the rims where steel, had the nice little grooves, but still, steel rims dont stop well wet, also had the safety brake levers. But i wont deny that the frame fit me basically perfect, and the ride was super pleasant. Being me, and having a older trek that was way tooo tall for me (was in the trash, like who does that?!) i decided to "upgrade" the moto. the moto kept its brake mechanism, but not the pads, and was upgraded to brifters, which the rear and front derailleurs were replaced, front is a shimano rx100, rear is a shimano 105, rims were replaced as well from the trek, with the rear having a 8 speed sora hub, and the front i believe is a weinmann rim, both are 25c-38c. cables were replaced all around, with some ghetto rigging of the front derailleur cable and cable housing so as to go under the bottom bracket. also the clamp had to be replaced for the front derailleur. i kept the original seat, seatpost, and handlebars. all in all, this bike really is awesome to me, so much so im looking for another frame (possibly better material and lighter though this actually is really lightweight). But yeah heres some pictures of it enjoy!
