Hello from sunny Birmingham, United Kingdom
Well, a bit north of Birmingham in reality, not far from Lichfield.
Just got a Boardman Road Comp on the Cycle to Work scheme - first time I've owned a bike since I rode a hand-me-down steel Peugeot road bike back in the early to late 90s.
I was an avid runner (10ks mostly, was working up to a half marathon, and then full marathon), however, I picked up injury after injury, finally culminating in a nasty case of IT band syndrome which has been a tricky so and so to shift.
It's only been a week, but after a bit of adjustment to my cleat positioning, and a few tweaks to the bike (90mm stem, down from the stock 110mm - I've got longish legs for my 5'8.5" height) I'm already having a lot of fun slowly building up - sticking to around 5 miles a day for a couple of weeks whilst I acclimatise.
It's also as much fun as I remember tackling hills, and then zooming down the other side
