Been lurking too long....
Been lurking too long....so I figured I should introduce myself. Returned to cycling last fall after a 30 year interruption. Had a Nishiki that I rode to work (just 10 miles) in the early 80's but the boss felt bad for me and gave a company car.
Picked up a Specialized Sirrus Hybrid last fall 'cause I wasn't in any shape to ride a real road bike. So the body has adapted OK and I've made the hybrid into sort of a "road bike". Found lots of good information on the forums. I sawed off the ends of the 620mm bars, added drop bar ends, road brakes, clipless pedals, changed the seat and seatpost, turned the stem over, tires, wheels, etc. $$$, etc.
Anyway the folks on the forums have been very helpful so I wanted to just say thanks and hopefully I may contribute some useful info in the future.
And BTW I'm from Long Island and "Qajaq" is the Inuit (Greenland) spelling of kayak, another interest of mine. Now what I need is a real road bike.

Glad you've come out of the shadows. I had a similar length of time out the saddle and started again a few years ago. Hope you love it as much as I do.
And have fun picking a road bike!
