Greetings from Central Maine
Happy Biking,
I have embarked on a project to restore my '73 Schwinn Continental that I got new when I was 13 years old. Back then I rode it for fun. Now 55, I want to ride it for exercise and fun.
The bike's original color was Sunset Orange and I made the stupid mistake of painting a different color over it about 10 years after I got it. It's been stored in one place or another for about the last 30 years and is in pretty good shape except for being dirty and having light rust here and there on steel and oxidation on aluminum parts. I've found sources for most parts (from lurking here) like brake pads, cables, tires and such. So here I go; wish me luck!

Welcome aboard! I had a Schwinn Varsity that I believe was a 1972 model. It was orange as well! I was envious of those who owned the Continental as it had center pull brakes, believed to be better at the time and quick release wheels! However, if memory serves it was $20 more than the Varsity at the time I purchased mine...which was $20 more than I had at the time! I believe the Varsity was $119 and the continental was $139 and the Super Sport was $169. Those were really cheap prices especially when you considered how much steel were in them as my Varsity weighed something like 45 pounds!
Anyway, good luck in the restoration process!
